One Night After Filming

 Happy Monday Friends,

This week I decided to close National Poetry Month with one last poem about one night in college.

One Night After Filming

Another long filming day wraps
So they all make their way home
Leaving me here... All alone
Stranded in this cabin in the woods
Guarder of horribly expensive movie equipment
Upstairs the doors locked and lights shut off
I take refuge in the lit basement game room
For a long night of pool playing

I throw a CD on that sweet player
To scare away the lonely feeling
To drive out the silence of the night
For awhile it's just the music
And the clank of balls
All is good
Nothing bad
Time for a new disc
I walk past the sliding doors bathed in darkness
As I cast a glance out
I find a face stares back from without...

I wonder what would have happened if I'd died that night?
What would my class have thought
When my body was discovered the next morning?
Would they know the culprit that stopped my heat
Was just a curious fox

Yeah that happened. I still find it amusing. Hope your tangles with nature are less hair raising and may God bless you!

Musical Moment: Inspired Music

Happy last speck of Monday music lovers,

The time of all egg foods has begun! How was my Easter? My sister visited and we ended up visiting old fishing holes, the cemetery where we fixed the wreath on our uncle's grave, then a hike up in the woods. Did I mention I did all this in pj pants? We also had good home cook goodness to eat and of course chocolate, but I wanna talk about ear food today, music. To be more specific music that I feel God sent to me went I needed it.

See I've always had a close relationship to music my family performing it, my name coming from a song, those years I dreamed of being in music. I sometimes think I feel more connected to God when I listen to Christian tunes. So who's to say he doesn't send tunes to inspired us when we need it.

Bring It All Back
by S Club-
My friends and I loved this band in high school. They actually gave themselves nicknames after the members names, this tended to happen with each fandom they had, I didn't get one in this case I did with Sliders and Lord of the Rings. One of my favorite songs was the first theme song for their TV show: Bring It All Back. Well time passed and I was probably in college or later and I was having a rough day I think the Mental Health Hydra may have been acting up. Now I hadn't heard this song in a long time and as I remember on this day feeling low and out of nowhere this upbeat song came into my head, like the universe knew it's what I needed. I still love jamming to it, it puts me in a good mood.

One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men-
This is the sadder of the inspired songs that have come to me in my life. A little over a month after I turned 18 my uncle lost his battle with lung cancer. It was a rough experience, and given I was at the hospital the night he passed it's a time and date that's been ingrained in my head every since. Well a few years back I was listening to I think a TV radio station this song came on, and it spoke to me reminded me of my uncle who I remembered had passed that day and I looked up and it was around the time he passed away. It was a beautiful sad tune the Lord sent my way, and I'll always remember my uncle when I hear it.

One Step At A Time by  Jordin Sparks-
I tend to get a lot of songs stuck in my brain and this tune was no exception. I was out with my Granny when this song was on repeat in my brain, so I think I tried mentally singing the mentioned Bring it All Back to get it out of my head. We go into a grocery store and on the speakers comes One Step At A Time. This is the point I thinking maybe the Lord's trying to get my attention and there's a reason the song's been in my head all that day. I was so moved by this experience I actually wrote a poem called Listen Up that I shared earlier this month.

I hope you guys have a good week, keep the music in your heart, and may God bless you.

Man with Holes in His Hands

Happy Good Friday my friends,

It's time for another poem this one is perfect for the Easter holiday!\

Man with Holes in His Hands

A day of hope
Welcomed by birds' songs
Revealing greens and colored petals
The hazy moon floats through a sea
Of pink and baby blue
This beautiful morning we remember
A Man with healing hands

More than 2,000 years prior
This Man dragged his cross
To be place on a hill between two thieves
There to hang till death
To save us all
To give us hope
Precious blood flowing
Draining from nailed hands

Over 2,000 years today
A stone had been rolled away
Wrappings of death found empty
Death is beaten
He has risen
Yes it's really He
Feel the holes in His hands

I have to wonder
Was it like this when they went to the tomb
On this day of resurrection
When we hide those symbols of new life
Like our own renewal
A  gift of grace from
A Man with holes in his hands

If you celebrate Easter have a blessed one, if not have a blessed day anyway! God bless you!

My Reflection in a Stormy Night

 Happy Friday Friends,

I'm currently having computer issues, fun. Hopefully I'll be getting my new PC soon and we can get back to normal here. So for your reading pleasure, here's this week's poetry offering:

My Reflection in a Stormy Night

Lighting illuminates the downpour
Crackling the atmosphere bringing thunder
The air filled with turmoil
Like my mind, my emotions
Inner demons lashing out
Nature ripping through all
As fears and emotions tear through me

I hope you guys have a good weekend, write or read some poetry, and may God bless you!

Listen Up It's National Poetry Month

 Happy Almost Friday my friends,

It's National Poetry Month and last year I posted a poem of mine each week, so I thought I'd repeat that again. Up first is a short but sweet poem about a day I'm pretty sure God was trying to get my attention:

Listen Up

Sometimes God speaks to me
But I don't always get the message
He wants me to listen to the music
He's got playing in my head
But I change my channel
So He puts it on the grocery store speakers
As if to say "Listen up child these words are for you."

Do you guys have any special poetic events happening near you this month? Perhaps your doing something special, please let me know it the comments!

Hope you have a poetic day, remember to keep those library cards up to date, and may God bless you!

That Whovian Life

Happy Monday friends,

I hope you all are having a good week, I'm battling the mental health hydra. The hydra has been why I haven't really been posting, or posting quite poorly. Today I thought I'd tell a few tales of some strange things that happened to me involving Doctor Who. You guys might get a kick out of these.

Name on a Can
Well this past summer I was in a Dollar General getting some hair ties. Something dealing with the 10th Doctor popped into my head. Then as I was waiting the check out I looked at the Coke cooler, and I kid you not the can name starring out at me is David, who if you don't know is the name of the guy who plays the 10th Doctor. Weird!

Don't Blink!

It was the night after I'd seen the "Blink" episode for the very first time. I was at a house I'd never been to celebrating my friends wedding which was to happen the next day. It was getting dark, so I decided to go out on the porch where it was quieter, and call the folks to let them know I was alive. As I was talking on the phone I turn around and staring at me was a rather large angel statue. I'm pretty sure my heart probably stopped a bit. Now your probably thinking I got into a starring match with it, no I actually turned my back on it, but I did find myself glancing back often to make sure it stayed there.

Bald Heads and Daleks Don't Mix
During the 50th anniversary month of Doctor Who we attended out first Time Traveler's Masquerade, which was Doctor Who themed. Cosplay Kasterborous was there with there Life Size TARDIS and Dalek. At some point in the night Fangirl and I were in the back when the Dalek, who I'd seen pushed around earlier, seem to be coming across the dance floor of it's own accord. See I didn't realize it was drive-able, so it was a bit creepy seeing this. After being slowed by a drunken bridal party, it got back in out area, where there was a couple who had done TARDIS themed costumes. The guy took off his hat, revealing his bald head, and for a photo op stuck his head to the suction cup/plunger appendage. Next thing we know we hear him hollering "He couldn't get it off". His head had suctioned to the Dalek. He did eventually get loose, but not before suffering a load of embarrassment.

Do any of you Whovians have cool Who related stories? Let me know in the comments. I hope you all have a good week! God bless you!
