Random Weeknight Musings

 Hello my friends,

Happy Doctor Who day guys! I spent my morning watching Episodes with the first Doctor and this morning and when I took a nap I dreamed about the Doctor. Not a bad dream to have. 47 years since the show started 8 years and a few months since I started watching it. *waves 13th Doctor's sonic around*
So today I decided to just do some random stuff I wanna talk about that I either forgot to mention in the last post or won't have made much in it's own post. So let's get started.

Daily Treasure: Homemade Gifts

Last month when their was a weather shift the arthritis in my hands acted up as they sometimes do when that happens (thank you Momma's side of the family with the early onset of arthritis). I did have some finger-less gloves we made from socks for it, but I couldn't find them. So I was telling my friend about my hands, and she said let me make you some finger-less gloves. I told her not to worry about it and waste the yarn she could use for paying customers, but being big hearted as she is, she said don't  worry about it. Well when we went out last time she presented me with these:

They fit nicely and will definitely combat the cold and arthritis. In addition to finger-less gloves she makes hats, scarfs, and blankets. If you like what you see email her at tigerdragon2001@yahoo.com with the subject Thrifty Geek Sent Me.

Games I'm Playing Right Now

I'm really late to this game, only because I only now have a device that plays it: Pokemon Go! I love this game! It's so cute! I have a Eevee named Painter following me around, I'm hoping to find a Jiggly Puff. That's one of my favs. My sister got me a Jigglypuff hat a few Christmases ago, click the link for the hilarious pic me and my sister took. I'm learning how to do everything, but it's fun to do.  I'm surprised what I've found here in the backwoods. I saw a magikarp hat and was like I gotta wear that! See in My Sims Kingdom my sim wears a fish hat and I thought it was cute, well now I'm wearing another. I think that's going to be a thing for me in games. If there's a fish hat in the game, my character will wear it.

Speaking of fish hats... My friends and me have been talking about starting an online D & D game. So using that Critical Role favorite: D&D Beyond, I've been making my first character. I went with a half elf ranger who wears, you guessed it, a fish hat. I'm thinking something like this, but green with eyes. What I said that's gonna be a thing with my game characters.

Supernatural Finale

All I can say is dang. I thought I was gonna have to hide in the Fangirl Bunker. I offered digital tissues to all my fellow SPN peeps. I still have a bunch of past episodes I haven't seen yet, so I still have some new to me coming, once I can watch it without getting down. I'll be dedicating a post to the show next post. Anyone else gonna check out Walker this January. I use to watch the original when I was growing up, but I may check this one out. I find it amusing since Walker Texas Ranger was one of his aliases.

 Capital One Christmas

Momma owned me tonight. She was watching that new Christmas Capital One commercial and she's like is that John Travolta? I'm like no. So she asked for me to look it up, so I did, I had to bow down and concede to her greatness. She was right.

Well that was shorter than I thought it was gonna be. Well not much going on right now. I'm gonna just chill out tonight maybe battle on Pokemon Go, and hang in this chat room I'm on. Have a good night my friends, stay warm, and God bless.

Daily Treasures: Watching for the Space Station

Hello Sky Watchers,

After a few failed days at seeing the space station, we've been covered in clouds when it's gone over, I finally got to see the space station fly over. It's not the first time seeing it fly over, but each watch is unique in it's own way.

Tonight I saw the dark silhouettes of the leaves shaking in the breezes that touched my skyward face. The neighbor's cars riding the roads, causing dogs to bark nearby. Hearing also the motorcycles all the way from the interstate.

Something small jumped in front of me on the drive way and hid in the grass. So that will remain a mystery. Lorenna McKennitt's "The Old Ways" was probably in my head as it is now.
I saw a hand and arm reaching out in the clouds, perhaps to pull the station along.

Looked better before I grabbed the camera.

Then finally the station come over silently. It looks so small, but I know in contains it's own wonders, and maybe people looking down at us.

Do you guys have any good sky gazing tales? Let me know in the comments.

I hope you all have a good weekend, may there be plenty of stars, and God bless you!

Daily Treasures: Nature's Little Magic Trick

Happy Friday my Friends,

Every so often little things in life like a spider making a web, and the fall of a leaf come together in such a way that it creates a magic act.
I was near our fallen barn and I saw this amazing sight:

A leaf suspended in mid fall, defying the laws of gravity. A great magic trick of nature. Seems God can prove he's a good magician. It's amazing how effective this trick is on the eyes. Who knew spider webs were such a good ingredient for a magic trick.

I know I've seen at least one of other time on a walk to get the mail. That one was caught perpetually doing it's leafy dance. I thought it was the most amazing beautiful thing. It put a smile on my face.
What simple things are putting smiles on your faces? Let me know in the comments.

I hope you all have a magical weekend and God bless you!

Daily Treasures: Rainbows

Happy gloomy day friends,

We've been getting a lot of rain here lately, but the upside to this, especially if there's a little sun, is the chance to see rainbows. Yesterday we got one of those rare treats rainbows. It started with a couple low to the ground  rainbows:

Then we got blessed with double rainbows:

One could say we were rich in rainbows. Kinda wish there was a pot of gold at the end of them.

Seeing all those rainbows I can't help but think of two quotes first by Dolly Parton: "The way I see it if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."  The second quote is by Maya Angelou from her book Letter to My Daughter: "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud."

Have any of you guys seen some awesome weather related things. Tell me about it in the comments. I hope you guys have a good week, look to the skies, and God bless you!

Daily Treasures: Lazy Rainy Days

Rainy evening my Friends,

It was pouring rain earlier. *Cue Eddie Rabbit's I Love a Rainy Night* It's suppose to switch over to snow sometime both which will result in the same thing... mud. Uh really not liking that. But despite all that I do at times love a rainy day. During the heat of a sunny summer's day when a gentle rain shower suddenly falls and a rainbow could be your reward. Or in the fall when the grey and fog of a dreary rain made the colors of the leaves pop.

Rainy days make the soul feel the need to slow down, wrap yourself in a blanket, and get lost in a good book, a nice warm beverage is optional. I love sometimes to just sit and listen to the gentle patter of rain falling to earth. A good song to fall asleep to.

Anybody remember that anime movie Studio Ghibli did The Secret World of Arriety. I seem to recall a couple scenes where you had just rain sound, actually I think they did this in a lot of their movies. Wasn't like the most calming feeling when these sences happened.

Ok I think that's enough about the weather for this post. Yes I just did a post about weather. I'm trying to get back to a once a week posting habit, and this is all I could come up with except for a couple other ideas that will requiere more effort.

I hope you are doing well in this new year friends, may you enjoy your lazy rain and/or snow day, and always may God bless you!

Daily Treasures: Sisterly Humor

Hello friends and greetings to your siblings,

I was given one flesh and blood sister in my life, but blessed with two soul sisters. Sadly two of them I don't get to see often, but when we get together you can be assured there is much laughter. This is a great daily treasure to have, that distance can't completely destroy the laughter your have with your sisters, if you are on good terms with them that is.

A recent example of sisterly humor being my sister's holiday visit at Christmas. Despite it being stressful with my anxiety, I am blessed to have some hilarious moments from the visit. It all started with my gifts from her and the family a sequined cat Christmas sweater which is purrfect Christmas attire for the future crazy cat lady. Next was a Jigglypuff hat/scarf thing from ThinkGeek that had me talking like it does in N64's Smash Bros game, it's one of my favorite Pokémon. Finally she gave me a collectors box set of the latest TMNT Movie line that had turtle figures and masks. So what do you with all this wearable stuff, you through it on making a lovely geeky ensemble. My sister deciding to joining in on the fun she throws on the mask of her favorite turtle Mickey, mine is Leonardo, and we had to pose for a picture:

It's the Ninja Yeti Fan and Crazy Cat Lady Ninja Jigglypuff

Yes this photo I'm sure will bring us smiles, or groans, for years to come. I'm glad despite whatever troubles we had, have, will have, and the miles between us we can still create sisterly humor, that also goes for all my distanced soul sisters.

Always cherish your siblings my friends be they your blood, soul, or whatever. Remember to always make some laughs. God bless you all.

Daily Treasures- Autumn Cometh

Fall has arrived again my friends. God has begun painting the leaves in brilliant colors and the pumpkin flavored noms are infiltrating the store shelves, well they've been doing that for a while now haven't they? I love this time of year, there's a magic to the air that no other time of the year holds. Other perks include the fact my favorite constellation, Orion, returns to our skies this time of year. It's like welcoming back an old friend after his long journey each year.

The other day I was working outside when I get under my favorite poplar tree. The breezes started blowing causing leaves from the poplar and surrounding trees to rain down in golden splendor. I stopped long enough to take in this miraculous moment and catch some leaves as I do each year.

Nature is quite the magician if I do say so myself. I was walking down the drive to the mail box and before me seemingly suspended of it's own accord was a little yellow leaf swinging and dancing in the air. I just stood mesmerized by this act of simple, yet astounding magic.

I find that I'm frequently inspired to write about this season. Something about the views, smells, and feel of it is creative juice of a special blend. Last year I decided to bottle Fall's scent even if it was just in word:

Parfum d’automne*

If Autumn could be perfumed

What would be it's olfactory?

It'd be the scent of chopped wood

That clings to Daddy's shirt after working on winter wood

The aroma of sun dried leaves that crackle beneath your feet

The fragrance of Marigolds that scent a Fall night

The unique smell of an Autumn breeze

That blows cool over the hills

Ratting the trees

Demanding leaves to play with

To finish it off healthy sprinkles of pumpkin spice and cinnamon

That engulfs our nose and taste

That is what a bottle of Autumn should smell like

I also enjoy the store finds this time of year. I generally have two wish lists during the season. One for the items that would be my décor for Halloween/Fall, and the items that I want to add to my regular year round décor. What can I say I love some creepy mixed with the many other things I throw up in my space. I got things up like a Dollar Tree Gargoyle I bought ages ago when we were still attending the Halloween Festival in Brevard, NC, and this Dracula Rubber Ducky the folks gave me. Heck I have one of those changing haunted portraits from last years Dollar General Halloween line I keep up. You can find her in the second picture of The Spooky Vegan's post, the lady on the top row. I don't know what it was about this portrait, but it was destined for my wall. When I first saw it I though it was cool cause it was A. a changing haunted portrait , which I've always wanted, B. She transforms into a vampire my favorite horror monster, C. Her normal state was just such a lovely portrait that I'd have hung even if it didn't change. I didn't buy her that first day, I didn't want to make a knee jerk splurge purchase. But after I left the store I couldn't get the piece out of my head, I even had christened her Lucillia, either that first time in the store or the days following. So I of course returned, and after a pulse quickening search through the male portrait stack I found Lucilla, and since then she's hung above my computer watching me work, procrastinate, and stuff my face. My general rule with shopping for not essentials is if you can wait on purchasing it wait, and if it's still something that stirs in your heart and mind days or even a year later get it, but in the cases of thrift stores and day sales best to just act, but have self control.

Ok my friends have a good weekend, enjoy God's beauty around you, and may He always Bless You!

*I used a language translator to attempt to get the French for perfume of Autumn or Autumn's perfume, if you speak French let me know if that's right. I just thought the title needed to be in French.*
