Monthly Randoms: Of Gals, Cakes and Sandwich Boards

 Hello Friends,

I was hoping to start posting regularly again, but I'm very rusty, and the usual issues with the, which saying it at this point is making me a broken record, Mental Health Hydra B----. Well today I'm bringing you the late February Monthly Random. I know it's very late, but at this point I feel like I'm scrambling to do everything cause I feel like I'm behind on everything. I also know what your thinking: Where's the third part to the Vox Machina post? Sorry I over estimated that project a bit, I know I said I'd do it last week, but yeah I had crap happen. So that will come out at some point. Hopefully soon, but no promises. But I did want to go ahead to get this Random out instead of doing a combined February and March one. So here is the Randoms of February.

Random Name Change:

Did she change the blog name? Why yes I did change the name. When I moved my blog here it was called "Once Upon a Bologna Sandwich". I forget when I decided to change it, I had fallen out of love with Bologna sandwiches and changed it to Backwoods Geek. Well sometime this year, I felt the name of my blog was too boring, and I missed the whimsy of my first name. So I revamped it with a sandwich I never have gotten tired of and now it's "Once Upon A Turkey Sandwich".

Random Doings:

Week of the February 14th- 19th-

I was going to make a post about this last month, but then the Vox Machina posts took precedence.  So I'll start with Valentine's Day. I spent this day of love with the fam, cause I got no man to speak off. I gave my folks a parents' Valentine's with three pieces of candy each, the rest of their gifts came after I went out with Fangirl the next day. I received a card, a box of chocolates, and a bag of assorted Hershey's™ candy. Mom baked us a heart cake:

The frosting is strawberry. The cake is a plain cake.

Galentine's Day and my Monthly Granny Outing-

Fangirl and I hung out on the 15th, which became our Galentine's Day. I gave her some flowers and made her a Supernatural themed card. We hit our usual haunts such as Morgan's Comics in West Asheville. Morgan the owner is an amazing artist, not only does she sell her art, but you can find it around the shop like on her Sandwich Board:

Grogu is so cute!

I ended up coming across another cute sandwich board while I was out with my Granny the next day at Vale123Pizza:

Mom's B-Day-

The week rounded out the 18th with my Mother's Birthday. For the celebration my Mother made another cake:

It was Strawberry all the way through, my Mom's favorite. I know what your thinking: Didn't you just have cake four days earlier, yup. Still had some of it left too when this was made. Mid-February is the time of Strawberry flavored cake. You're also probably wondering why my Mom baked her own cake. Well my Dad I don't think knows how to back and I'm not allowed to. There was a Mom birthday cake related baking disaster when I was 16 my Mother has yet to fully forgive and definitely not forget.

Favorites From My Socials:

Reddit has some great video game themed artistry last month that got my upvote. This first was this Samus Metroid 3D Artwork that u/Wizyakuza created, you can purchase it here. The next piece of art is this cute crocheted Celeste, from Animal Crossing, done by u/EntertainTheDog. Lastly u/Shinamus shared this Uncharted fan video by Allan Ungar, which stars Nathan Fillon!

There was strong  musician vibes last month on Instagram. Firstly, is from SJ Tucker, showing off a birthday present made for her from her song "In The House of Mama Dragon". It's a great song about this woman Sooj knows, even if you're not Pagan, you'll love it, I'm Christian and I love it. Second one is from Patti Smith featuring this beautiful spiral stone.

Doctor Who started Black History Month on Twitter with a throwback to their episode "Rosa", it was a powerful episode, one of the best not only of Whitaker's but I dare say the whole series. @KP11Studios shared this nerdy meme that totally explain why I am the way I am, and since Supernatural is part of that, you shouldn't be surprised I liked Chester the 67 Impala.

The like I'm showcasing from Tumblr was posted by What Greater Gift Than The Love Of A Cat called Snow Lovers. Reminds me of that snow scene in Garfield's Christmas Special from the 80's.

The cat content continues with TikTok. I follow 3 Southern Cats and Momma, and her cat Willow is a huge Reba McEntire fan. In this video, Willow gets a surprise when a certain red head songstress comments on a post.

Things To Watch:

I love the YouTuber LaurenzSide. As all her fans know she is a fan of bread. She is, after all the bread queen. Well Lauren discovered canned bread recently. When I saw the title I thought of Squidward in that one Spongebob Squarepants episode. Even Lauren mentioned that episode. I actually remember after seeing that show wondering if that was a thing, well apparently it is.

Things I Wanna Get:

So this past Christmas my Great Aunt, in her generous nature, put together a bunch of gifts for me. Well one of those gifts was a box filled with assorted bags of candy. One of those was a candy I'd never tried before Andes Cherry Jubilee. I figured it was going to be Cherry flavored chocolate, but it was all that and better. It tasted like those chocolate covered cherries my Dad used to get at Christmas, but easier to eat.

Things I've Found:

1. Since I heard about Maya Angelou's Quarter I wanted to get it when it was released. Well while I was out with my Grandmother she got two of them in some change she got back. I'm so happy to have gotten one.

2. While out the same day I was perusing the Easter section, which I guess is utilized for Ostra too. I saw a selection of different light up eggs. I guess night egg hunting is getting big. The ones that caught my eye were these unicorn eggs:

My Mom would love these, she loves unicorns. I think they're cute.

3. I came across this shirt abandoned in Wal-Mart:

I feel like this is a good reminder we all need to try to do if we can. I said try, even I'm not nice all the time.

4. So I was Mod the Sims looking for some Sims Custom Content, and I came across this custom lot designed to look like a Monopoly board. That alone was funny, what is even funnier is the description of it. I downloaded it, don't know how I'll use it.

5. I think the Captain is responsible for this next, she shared this on her Facebook wall.  It's an article form Media Chomp entitled "Apparently People Don't Know How to Boil Water". It's talking about a  comment thread that starts with a discovery about hot tea, that leads to a debate about how to heat water. Now all this is all funny enough, but the cherry on top of it is the last comment where someone turns the thread comments into a Shakespearean play... I encourage you to read this guys, it's great.

Well that is February's Randoms completed. I hope Your week is well, try to be kind, and may my God bless you!

Where have I been? What have I bought? What do I want? What have I been watching?

Hello friends,

Been a bit so let's take a page from Running in a Skirt's Currently segments and see what's up with me now.

Where have I been?

Well not much anywhere due to this pandemic. Haven't really had much to write about. I've been dealing with a raging mental health hydra for months probably cause I couldn't get out. Intrusive thoughts are so fun. I've only read a few books so far this year so I'll probably post a couple book posts on that at some point. I've just started daring to venture out of the backwoods, with a mask of course. Been working a little on some stories. May have had a mild manic episode that I maybe dealing with low side now so that's fun. But enough of my mental health issues and quarantine let's talk fun things.

What have I bought?

Got the Munchkin® Deluxe. I've wanted a one of their games for a long time, lucky for this thrifty geek I came across this version at a Goodwill. I haven't played it yet cause not something I think my folks will get into, but I'm thinking about making that a new thing doing thrifty geek stuff segments what ya think?

Other fun buys that hasn't been music or gift related is something I came across recently at Walmart that was a TMNT™   Anniversary edition 5 movie set. It has the first three turtle movie from the 90's. The animated movie that came out in 2007, and a new animated movie that come out this year, and that I actually saw like a few weeks ago: Batman VS Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™ . Yeah that's a mash up I never thought I'd see. So yay!

What Do I Want?

Well I saw in the Halloween section at Walmart a Neegan bat. I don't watch The Walking Dead I know shocking and don't beat me with your flails. But I do watch Supernatural I know the Jeffery Dean Morgan has been in booth and they had his bat in an episode. I feel like as a geek I should have one. I'm seriously thinking of going back and purchasing it. Next time I'm there. Also it was weird seeing the Halloween section still in a orderly state.

I really want a blue light saber, I was drooling over some over at UltraSabers®, I mean a custom light saber that's some geek cred, but I'm a thrifty geek so I was just as happy fining this Luke Skywalker one at Party City®

Like most people I want a Nintendo Switch. I'd love The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossings: New Horizons (was watching a lot of Youtubers' game play of this), Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. But that's never gonna happen any time soon thrifty geek here.

What Have I Been Watching?

Supernatural, I saw that TNT's reruns of it was in season one and there's a lot of the early seasons except for the first few eps of season one I watched when it came out the first time. So I've been binging it every day. The rest of the final season premieres this month so can't really say yay, cause the show is ending and given it's darkness I don't see it ending well for our characters, especially Cas, as much as I love that Angel. Sorry had these kind of shows where ending breaks your heart.

Well that's all for this one now that I'm getting out again, maybe I can post some more stuff. Hope your weekend is good, stay safe, and God bless you.

What I'm Doing in 2020

Happy wet night my friends,

Well this week I'm just gonna take a page from Running in a Skirt and just mention what I've been up to lately.

Tube Tales

From Christmas to New Year's actually this morning too I was watching Doctor Who. New Years day I watched the Rose Parade for a bit and some Firefly and the new Doctor Who! I'll talk more new Who Monday after part two of the first episode airs.

Online I've been watching  Travis Willingham's Yeehaw Game Ranch. I needed a break from Critical Role and decided to try this show. It's hilarious I have to admit. Puppets bashing on Travis' sidekick Brian and also games it's a fun time.
I've also watched some of the cooking episode Christy Carson Ramano does on her channel. I love getting to see old favorites on the show.

Book Journeys

I've been working through the last book of Amanda Churi's The Twisted Trilogy. I'm interested in how this series ends. I usually don't like the epic fantasy format, but this is not been a bad one. The past two books I seem to start around Christmas time.

Video Games

I was playing some Neverwinter last month. So excited to see Minsc from Baulder's Gate in this game.  I had to start playing this cause D & D online won't work in my new PC for some reason.
Lately since Fangirl got me the Showtime expansion I've been playing Sims 3. I've mostly been playing an acrobat. I love doing the live gigs. I also love performing for tips, the juggling acts you can do. The particular Sim I did was made with a B*Witched vibe I guess you could say.

Jamming To

My sister Econut has started a new podcast called Trout's Skool of Life where she is gonna post a new positive lesson she learns each day. So go check her out, there's already some good stuff there.

Been listening to songs of my past on Spotify. They lift the spirit. Also been jamming to the mp3 player. Right now checking out Taylor Swift's Lover.

Munching
Still eating on the goodies from Christmas. I dread to see the scale at the Doctor's office. Momma cooks a lot for the holidays.

Holiday Haul
Some of the things I got included a couple seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Nail polish, a cute plush penguin, drawing pads and holo notebooks to fill with my scribblings.

So hope the weekend treats you good, live it too the most, and God bless.

The Tale of Two Dawns

Good Eaaarly Morning my friends,

Ironically today's tale is of the morn. Given I'm a night owl I seen daylight come a many a time. But I want to share with you two particular dawnings that are etched into my brain.

The Dawn of Childhood
In the days when seeing the dawn come was something that had probably didn't happen often this memory is forever stuck in my mind. This may have been my first time watching dawn come in, certainly the most memorable. It was in the final years of my Dad working, and because of his illness, similar to mine,  it got to the point my Mom had to be nearby most the time, so often times particularly the times Pop had to work the graveyard shift my sister and me were camped out in the camper truck. Well one of these graveyard shifts I guess I'd wanted to see the dawn, I assume my Mom was in the know, I remember being promised M&M's by her, then I took a nap and woke I think when the promised M&M's came, so as I munched on the candy I finished reading this Bobbsey Twins and the Horseshoe Riddle my Mom had given me. I was keeping an eye on the top of the building at end of the street where the dawn would begin.
I'm sure to my child mind watching the first hints of blue infiltrating the night sky was fascinated, then watched as the light grew from behind that building and engulfed the world. My Mom probably forced me to get some zzzz's at some point after that.

Dawn from the Ocean

January 2012 I got to go see the ocean for the first time in my life. Fangirl took me down to Myrtle Beach for a weekend trip. Our last morning there I planned to get up early to watch the sunrise on the ocean. I woke up way too early, so I went to the outer room and watched some Anime. Then I kept watch on the balcony. The butterscotch moon was on it's way to the western horizon, and I saw the faintest hints of red.
As it got a bit more light Fangirl escorted me to the beach before heading back into the hotel. I walked the beach, picked up shells, as the seagulls bothering the jelly fish I kept a distance from. I snapped various pictures of the dawn coming.

Finally it was like the fiery orb broke free of the ocean. I felt like I was one of the first peeps on the continent to be touched by the sun's light that day. It was such and epic sight.

Another dawn if probably approaching, I hope you guys have a great day and remember to take in the beauty in each day. God Bless You!

Crazy Idea Time: The Laundromat Musings - A Book

Hello my friends,
I hope this week has treated you well. I am recovering from battling a cold that hit me out of no where, I'm not completely 100 percent, but I think I'm pretty close minus the hacking coughs. But enough about my health let's turn our attention to a place that probably is crawling with as much germs as I am, the Laundromat.
Actually this post was first started in February or March of last year or the year before. Actually was suppose to be for the old blog, yup it's been sitting here waiting on ye olde computer a bit. It started when I was updating my journal, my actual handwritten one, and I was writing about the trip we'd made to the Laundromat to do the massive load of laundry that'd piled up the last time I got massively sick, we'd all been sick that time. Mainly it was just observations of things that night and the people we ran into, but it got me to thinking that would make an interesting book. A book centered around the Laundromat. I'm sure some it's been done, but each person and Laundromat has a tale. I mean seriously interesting thoughts photos, and stories can come from these places.

I have a many memories from my ventures to these places, some that are sick enough to gross out your therapist and those good enough that me feel warm when I think about them. There's the night a couple had this large dog running around the place and it goes sniffing at our Burger King we'd bought to munch on while the clothes were washing. Then after they had finished their clothes you saw them throwing layers of their dryer warmed clothes on them before assumingly walking home into winter's darkness.

Actually at that same Laundromat many, many winters before and my Dad needed to use the restroom, so he parks at the Laundromat, it's a 24 hour place, and he opens the door to their tiny men's restroom only to bean the head of a poor homeless man who'd made it's floor his bed for the night.

These yellow ones had been there since I was little, they were in the process of replacing them.

Dog or Human?
It's a place where the writings of bygone visitors can leave us with so many questions like: "What's the deal with Princess Sparkles?"

Are these crazy kids are still together after almost 4 years?

Who's Jessie and why is he always here?
Besides a place that keeps clean clothes upon your person, it's a place were you profess your love.

So what are some of your crazy Laundromat stories? Or any clothes washing related tale? Well friends behave yourselves, may your clothes always come clean, and may God Bless You!

Time and Other Fleeting Things

They say "The best things in life are free", but I think it would be more true if it was said "The best things in life are free and fleeting." This is the mindset I'd planned to write with when I first was going to write this last month. Time has been fleeting, so much that like The Art of Doing Stuff did a few weeks ago and Running in a Skirt does this will have to be a massive dump of the last couple months. I have been a flake on many things this season, this blog being one of them. So with "free and fleeting things" in mind I'll try to stay on theme as I do an account of some of the things that have happened the last couple months.

Max Patch

Well in the latter part of July we took a trip to Max Patch, North Carolina. We hadn't been since 2015 maybe. For those who've never been, Max Patch and the surrounding area is a beautiful rural land. There's places to fish, hike, horseback ride camp, even some letterboxes and geocaches. We packed a lunch and took a nice ride there, despite having the daylights jarred out of me once we hit the gravel. For those that don't know I enjoy car rides sometimes I think it's the best part of an outing.

We usually stop by Max Patch Pond were certain times of the year you can see the tadpoles in various fleeting stages on their way to adulthood.

I also love seeing the butterflies gathering by the water, such beautiful and short lived creatures...

...and flora.

It was nice hanging with the folks in a laid back setting ,looking at nature, checking out the local music stations, visiting where my Grandpa lived. Enjoying the little moments.

Asheville Anime Regional Convention

I really don't know how to add this to the theme it wasn't free and it happens every year, but the memories made are fleeting and can't be repeated? It was a fun time and a beautiful day.

I ran into this self published author I'd met at the final GeeKOut last year, Amanda Churi. She came in tow with her fiancé this year. Who dazzled me with so sleight of hand, even though I've studied up on the subject. I ended up purchasing her first book, which she publish as her senior English project. It was after reading the book that I realized she'd probably given some of her fiancés' attributes and name to one of the main characters. So for that moment I met him, it was like when one meets an actor who portrays a character you like, it's the closet you'll come to meeting that fictional character. Despite being a large book a finished it rather quick, as I'm prone to do to good stories. I may have to buy the second one.

Welcome to the Wild
One of the things I enjoy about living where I do is the abundant wildlife that can be found in our yard. We have deer that roam and munch on our fruits, we have one that we have been watching for the last couple years who we call flip tail cause of it's over fondness to tail flipping. We also have turkeys that come around every year. This year a turkey has been roaming with her chicks. You can't help put smile seeing the little things following Momma around. We also had a turkey decide to roost in one of the trees behind the barn each even. It was enjoyable to see it up there when I'd go to the feeding:

Sadly this joy was short lived for it decided to stop roosting right before the eclipse, actual a lot of the animals vamoosed right around the eclipse for a time. But the deer and Momma Turkey returned. Actually in that same tree a few weeks ago the Momma flew up into it, then growing chicks followed suit each seemed to be trying to out do it's sibling till the tree was full. I couldn't help to think of that Peanuts Thanksgiving Special and Sally trying to get a Turkey Tree. I guess I found it. The little family it still around, but I haven't seen them much if at all since that tree display.

Eclipsed

One fleeting cosmic event we enjoyed in August here in the States was the total solar eclipse. It was something I'd been looking forward to for months. Thankfully my sister was able to hook us up with proper eye wear amidst all that eye wear drama. I even was inspired to do a bit of art after hearing our local country station Kiss Country talk about the Cherokee having an eclipse event. They also mentioned who they believed a frog was eating the sun... Being descended of Cherokee, at least that's what those who studied my family tree have told me, I found this fascinating. I mean I look at all these other cultures who had ideas of ferocious beasts devouring the sun, and my ancestors thought it was a frog... I'm just wondering how this belief began. Anyway not long after hearing this, maybe even the same morning, this image came to mind of a frog with the sun in his belly. I'm not the best drawer, but who else is gonna do your vision, so I gave it a try. I entitled it Nvdo Walosi Ugisgo. It's one of the Cherokee phrases for eclipse I learned from Your Grandmother's Cherokee. I'm kinda pleased with it.

On the day of the event itself we watched all the coverage and toasted as we watched the moon eat the sun, mostly. I think my Dad figured we were in the 99.6 range if not more. It was enough to transform the world into some strange realm where you couldn't help but think about those lizard men you saw on Facebook. My sister and family got the epic eclipse pics. I did manage some cool shots, you can tell strange things is going on.

Watching all the big eclipse parties on the tube you kinda wish you went to one, but at the same time it was nice to share in this special moment just with some of the special people in your life, plus not far to collapse in my bed, my sleep was so screwed up around that time. I'm also inspired to do more creative work surrounding the eclipse something comparing how my ancestors handled it to how we do now.
Still Together All These Years

Earlier this month my Mom and Pop celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. I'm sure as it probably does for most time as flow by, but I'm glad their marriage withstood it's test. We went for a family celebration at a local restaurant. I'd actually been there the night before with Fangirl, so double the burger pleasure.

This is me abandoning adulthood to play Tetris with the Tetris Tot they've apparently decided to start serving.
Well that is the chronicles of time that has soared passed me. My prayers go to those of you effected by the hurricane, wildfires, and earthquakes. I pray the Lord keeps your all safe. God bless you friends!

A Summer Gathering and Momma's Cooking

Hello friends if your in the summer climate as I am right now, I hope you're keeping cool. Earlier this month in the States we had the Fourth of July (Independence Day), yes way overdue writing this. We celebrated with a cookout, an event that usually is just involved Fangirl coming up, the Folk, and me, but this year my sister and I'll call her June Bug decided to bring their brood, making it a total of 8 people.

This caused my Mother to have to conjure up an alternative dessert plan. She off the bat created a new cake recipe that I call: Mom's Improv 4th of July Cake. Though don't let the title fool you it'd be great at any time. I don't have any pictures, it's a pretty simple cake, but I will share the recipe I originally posted on Gilded Wings:

Mom's Improv 4th of July Cake

Ingredients:

Berry Mix:
1 Cup Sugar
1 to 1 1/2 cup of Blueberries
1 to 1 1/2 cup of Strawberries (crushed)

Cake Mix:
2 Cups of flour
1 Cup of Sugar
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla
2 Eggs
1/2 cup of cooking oil
1/2 cup of evaporated milk (mixed with 1/2 cup of water)

Also:
Whip Cream
Cooking Spray
Preheat oven to 350

Instructions:

Preparing Your Berry Mix

Add your blue berries and strawberries to a bowl. Pour in the sugar and stir it all up. Let it set for an hour to two hours, stirring every 30 minutes till it forms a juice.

Preparing Your Cake Mix

First add the dry ingredients (the flour and sugar), then add the wet ingredients (everything else). Then stir till you get a smooth, well mixed batter.

Let's Mix These Two Mixes

Once your juice has formed strain out the berries into the cake batter. SAVE THE JUICE!
Mix the berries into your batter.

Bake Creation Bake!

Spray a 9 X 13 cake pan, and pour in the batter. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Test doneness with a toothpick.

After Baking
Once the cake is out of the oven, and still hot take spoonfuls of the berry juice you saved and spoon it all over the cake. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE AT LEAST HALF OF THE JUICE! Now let it cool down.

Nom Nom

Cut up the cake however you wish. Serve your cake piece topped with whipped cream. Finish by drizzling some of your remaining juice over it.

Enjoy!

After our feasting, we all went outside to enjoy the fireworks. My sister's brood had brought some glow sticks and a balls. June Bug made her a crown out of glowing periwinkle ring. She was like queen of the rave! Ok not really, but maybe the glow queen of the cookout.

There was one point I was sitting on the porch edge in the dying day watching my sister play catch with the boys as lighting bug, or you may call them fire flies (I think both names are beautiful), an I was like this was definantly almost like the quenticenal american Summer/Fourth of July. If it wasn't already cliche enough we later roasted marshmellows for s'mores over the grill's charcoal that was still burning.

I'm also going to remember it as the Forth we had watermelon out our ears. See as part of our usual Fourth menu we have watermelon, so my parents bought one. Well her comes my sister with one, which we used for out cookout, then my Grandparents up the road called saying they was gonna have to send the rest of their melon to us cause some rencent dental work was making it hard for them to eat it. So my sister and me had to get it. There was a half plus about 3/4's of another half we carried back along with bags of onions, yes there was qoting of Dirty Dancing after this. Needless to say our guests went home with Melon, cause our was untouched in the fridge. Actually I was eating that melon, when I wrote this back on the 11thm we still had half of it at that time.

I guess before I go I'll post this one summery type craft thing I fell in love with. I mean this post is summer related. It's a tutorial for Solar Color Changing Ombre Converse Sneakers from the Dream A Little Bigger Blog, props to Epbot's post for me finding it. I think that would be cool, or heck even getting regular paint and coloring up some shoes ombre style would be awesome. Though I don't know about this particular brand of flats, I know certain flat bottom tennis shoes are not the best protect on our gravel/rock drive way, and if you step on a single piece of sharp gravel in them, it's about as bad as if you did it barefooted.

Well I hope you have a good weekend friends and enjoy the summertime. God Bless You Guys!

Musical Moment: My Life Story Playlist

Hello Friends I hope your day is going well. We all know the old saying "Music is the soundtrack to life". Quite true, but I think out of all the music we listen to there's ones that really tell our life story, those songs we attach memories to, or speak about us so well. So in the continuing trend of reflecting before my birthday I decided to share some of the songs from My Life Story Playlist. I'm actually listening to it on Spotify as I type. So yeah let's do this musical journey.

Candida by Tony Orlando and Dawn
This oldie graces my list first because it is a highly important song in my life. This song was what inspired my mother’s choice in naming me. Of course the spelling is off from the song’s spelling, but that’s because my mother, couldn't recall if it was a second N or a second D. Either way this song is the reason I’m named what I’m named.

Daniel by Elton John
This is the song that could have been... my name that is. Had I been a boy this would have been my name and this song would have been the inspiration. My folks I think had musical names picked out for my sister and me in any scenario.

Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.
The song is on the list cause "Ghostbusters" is a movie that is close to my heart due to the fact we came into the world the same week.

Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Dolly is one of my inspirations. She’s a creative soul that speaks to my creative soul. We both are mountain women from poor families. I choose this song because it reflects who she is and it’s the type of person she is that speaks volumes to me.

Bop by Dan Seals
This was my favorite song as a young child. I’ve been told I would run around the house saying "Play Bop Daddy, play Bop!", or in the vehicle with my Grandparents.
She’s in Love with a Boy by Trisha Yearwood
This song was on my first cassette that wasn’t of the kiddy variety. She was one of my early favorite female artists.

Playing With the Boys by Kenny Loggins
When summer came my family would head out for a camping and/or fishing trip. As we drove out their Mom would play the Top Gun soundtrack. It was only in the summer when she would play this album. This song is one of my favorite tracks on the album.

Down Home by Alabama
When I was in fourth grade my elementary put on a variety show to raise money for the school. This song was the opening number, I remember they had a back drop that represented the nearby general store with some of the classmates playing checkers and dancing.

This Kiss by Faith Hill
I played the crap out of this song one summer it about drove Mom crazy and it's on the soundtrack of one of my favorite movies Practical Magic.
Brandy (You’re a fine Girl) by Looking Glass
Econut and I did a rendition of this song while in a river one summer some point in my high school years, plus I deemed it the official song of Free Comic Book Day 2017.
 Rocky Top by Conway Twitty
This song was played at our dances and proms, it was played on the cafeteria juke box so much that the principal, who despised the song to begin with, threaten to take the whole thing out. I’m not sure if this is the same version played on the juke or at the dances, but it’s my favorite.
Never Had a Dream True by S Club 7
This was the first song I slow danced to with one of my guy friends at my first prom. I had no date so my friend let me dance with her boyfriend.

Hands(Christmas Version) by Jewel
When 9/11 happened it became a song I turned to to try to inspire strength with in me. Jewel is another creative soul that inspires mine.

Graduation (Friends Forever) by Vitamin C
Listened to it on the way to my graduation.

The Scotsman by The Whiskey Sisters
This was one of my favorite acts that played at the Renaissance Faire. This is the most memorable song they sang and it was the first version of it I ever heard. Originally by Mike Cross.

My World by Avril Lavinge
The chorus is so my thought processes.

Peggy Sue by Buddy Holly
This is the name Econut gave our first car; a red 1987 T- top Camaro. The song of course was the inspiration.

Enough by Barlow Girl
God is good enough said and all I need.
One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey/Boys II Men
There is a creepy to how this song ended up on my list. I had I think on of those satellite radio stations on. The clock had done crossed over to the next day which was the anniversary of my uncle's passing. Well around the time of his death this song came. Now you talk about some chills.

On Step at a Time by Jordin Sparks
Ok lone last song I'd had this song stuck in my head, so I tried to get it out by getting another one stuck in it, well that same day as I was in a Food Lion guess what song came on the speakers. So I pretty much figured God was wanting me to pay attention to the song's message.

Alright friends that's the end of that musical trip and another journey in my strange mind. Do you guys have any songs that are particularly special to you? If so tell me in le comments. Hope you have a great day friends, and May God Bless You!

The 9C Lists

So my birthday is coming up in a couple days. So I'd like to take the time to reflect on things in my life, I mean this is a celebration of one's life. So I'm posting some things from my 9C lists. It's two list I have for my favorite things that start with "C" like my name and a list of things that pertain to my favorite number 9, I'm a sad over thinking human.

The "C" List

Christ- Christ is on top off this list for He and God are foremost in the life of a Christian. He saved our souls from the final death.

Carolina- I was born, raised, and live in the Carolinas.

Cinderella- My favorite fairytale.

Christmas- The big holiday at my house. We enjoy this time of year, even if it is a bit stressful.

Cherokee- My Great, Great, Great Grandmother was half Cherokee, I have been told this and possibly found documentation of this, so I have some Cherokee blood in me, though I suspect this is only one of the ways I have Cherokee/ Native American heritage.

Cats- I have had many cats too, we have other types of pets too, but I get along well with cats.

Chocolate, Cola, Cake, cookies- The bad sugary things I can't help, but love.

Claudia Kishi- She was my favorite baby sitter in the "Baby Sitters Club Series" by Ann M. Martin I read as a child.

Chicken- I love me some chicken. I love it cooked many different ways.

"Charmed"- I love the TV series "Charmed". I still enjoy watching the reruns.

The "9" List

9 represents the fruits of the Holy Spirit

"The Baby-Sitter's Club book # 9: The Ghost at Dawn's House" by Ann M. Martin- became my favorite book in the series.

In an episode of "Doctor Who" Code 9 means the Doctor.

In 9th grade I went to my first concert and met the artist, Bryan White.

Number of goats I'm worth according to howmanygoats.com, I think I could this on boredbutton.com, there is some weird some weird sites out there.

Now for some favorite number mathematics

The square root of 9 is my B Day.

My birth Month and Day added together = 9.

Fangirl and Econut both have birthdays on the 27th which if you add the digits = 9.

Likewise my Mom and the Captain's Mom were born on the 18 of their birth month an if you add the digits yeah you guessed it you get 9.

Ok friends I guess you've seen enough of my weird logic for one day. I be "C"ing you later. God bless you all.

Renewal and Life

As the blossoming lilacs life seems to be in a state of renewal and change. It's not just spring either. It's like everything has shifted and changed. I just feel it, and it's got me off center a bit. But that's life a constant state of renewing and transforming. We shift always in thoughts, views, and roles. I have a friend who is preparing to try and start a family. That's a big life change. Not just for you and your family, but everything. It's gonna be a crazy time, but hopefully a good one.

While we're on the subject of life I reached a mile stone in mine on 4/11/17 the day before Pop's B-Day. I reach 12,000 days of life. While I was at a Dollar Tree I decided to get something out of those quarter machines. What they are great cheap resource for stocking stuffers/ little gifts, crafting supplies, or just a little thing to make you smile. Well I got a heart eraser which at first thought I'm like, well what am I gonna do with it when I realized later it was the perfect thing to get for the day:

I took a pen and documented this occasion in life. You should always take time to celebrate life in all it's moments.

We just celebrated Easter which for us Christians is the ultimate time of renewal. Jesus rose from the dead bring with Him a renewed hope and when we are saved by the power of His blood we have a renewed life. And on Easter this year as I was either stepping off the porch or on it I happened to look up into the sky and saw what I don't think I've ever seen before, an Easter rainbow.

The very brief time it was in existence it seemed to be a sign of hope, very representative of the day.

Today April gave us one of it's showers, but no rainbows from my view. As I stepped out into the land of the dying day the rain washed world smelled so clean... renewed...

Well friends, I'll end it here. I hope you have a good night, and may God bless and renew you always.
