Monthly Randoms June 2021

 Hello Friends,

Sorry if June's is a little late I've just not been able to sit still long enough or focus long enough to do one on time. Plus not really a lot going on in June on my end. I usually have like a few links and stuff to share, but not last month. I felt like I was in a daze most of last month.

Things I Want:

Tiny shelves... Yes you heard right. I want little shelves. I have various dressers and big shelves that I've just set stuff on, but most things are on one level, I want little shelves to put on them to create various heights. Plus I have received a bunch of Funko's at Christmas and some for my B-day and I need to create a space to display them. So I'm looking at thrift stores for something to use or I could do what Epbot did, but I fear I'd just mess it up.

Things I'm Watching:

Apart from my usual TV schedule which mostly consists of Good Witch, CW's Arrowverse, Legacies, Walker, New Charmed which I'm very behind on those last three. I've been watching a lot of Phineas and Ferb that DisneyXD channel has been marathoning. I actually had a funny moment where I woke up one day and the one where they cross over with Marvel is on, I can't sleep without the TV on, well I'm just laying there listening to the special and Red Skull comes on, but behind my closed eyes I'm not seeing that character I'm seeing Liam O'Brian doing Caleb Widowghaust, hope I spelt that right, from Campaign Two of Critical Role. For those not in the know Liam voices both and Red Skull we know has a German accent and when Caleb speaks in his native Zimmian accent Liam uses his German accent voice, so my just awakened brain was confused I guess, but when I realized what I done I just smiled.

I have also been binging Helloiamkate on Youtube. I discovered watching Sundee's Among Us game play. It surprised me when one day a woman was in his game play cause it's usually all dudes. I got a kick out of her antics, so I was so happy to see she had her own channel. I've been watching her Among Us videos some of which contain her side of the videos I've already watched. I love when she's imposter she's like this ball of killing fluff. She goes hardcore on her fellow players will laughing and singing it's great.

Music I'm Jamming To:

Rainin' Fellas by Toderick Hall- The infamous Toderick is back with a new album called Femuline. His first single from the album is awesome! I had to get the song once I saw the video my friend shared with me last month. I have been jamming heavily to this song for the last month. When Spotify does my top songs of the year this year it'll probably be up in the top five most listened. It's an awesome song, you totally need to listen to it. I saw on his tour dates he's going to be coming nearby and I'd love to go. Although not sure what to expect, if the stage performance will be like the video, so... let's say revealing.

Top Instagram Save:

So my favorite picture is one my sister took while on her roadtrip of my furniece tapping into her inner cowgirl/dog. She just has this look that says "I so over this Mom."

Well that's it. That's all I got for you for lasts months random. I hope you all have a good weekend, have lots of adventures, God bless, till next time Geek Tribe.

It All Started With a Snapping Turtle

 Happy Weekend friends,

Well today I'll be talking about well last Saturday. It was Fangirl and mine's monthly outing that we've only been able to pick up again as we're able to venture out again. It was a rainy day, that was a crappy thing. So we get started driving back toward civilization and we'd had one out of towner in front of us who had to finally pull over cause I assume they have no clue where they were or were freaking out on our curvy roads, I don't know and I really shouldn't assume. Anyways we get right past a produce stand and there's a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and we're like "What the heck?", and there was a huge butt snapping, or mud, turtle. The vehicle that was in front of us pulled over to block it from getting ran over. We went on not because we where heartless, but cause hello it's a snapping turtle, and I like all my fingers.

After some errands we went to spend the day in Asheville. Out first stop was lunch at Tao's which has opened their dining room (please keep in mind we are wearing masks, social distancing, and using hand sanitizer during this day). I was so happy I haven't had Chinese food since March. It was amazing.

Morgan's Comics

Well we've been going to the comic book stores more than once a year now, which makes me happy. Our first stop was Morgan's Comics. We actually were there when I think Morgan was there. I love this shop especially since we're not being crushed by Free Comic Book Day crowds. It allows me to browse a bit. Saw the first comic in the Doctor Who 10 and 13 crossover. Wanting to save some money I decided against getting it this time. If they have it the next time I go I may grab it.
The only thing I ended up getting was a pin from a Dungeons and Dragons box. I bought a Chaotic Good alignment pin cause that's gonna be my first D & D character's alignment. I also feels like this describes me in real life as well, but probably not in the same sense as the game.
Because of the pin one of of the workers was telling us about the games they hosted online, which once I have experience with the game with friends who can teach us how the game goes, I'll feel more comfortable.

Asheville Mall

We took our first foray into the mall in months. Saw how Covid was effecting it. Due to lines and not wanting to walk far for no good reason we just ended up going to Hot Topic. The had Beetlejuice stuff out. I grinned over some of the books that had the cover of the book from the movie. The also had the 13th Doctor's Sonic Screw driver. If they have any next time we go for that price, I gotta get one for my collection. Yeah purchasing Doctor Who things is gonna be a theme I see.

JoAnn's

We stopped by Joann's to look mainly at the Halloween items. This year the stores haven't really impressed with Halloween items. See every year I'm prepared to make two lists for Halloween items stuff to buy to decorate for Halloween and the stuff to decorate my space for year round. Yeah I'm a color loving geek, but I got some Addams Family crap going on too. I saw a couple things I liked like a gold skeleton with wings, but I don't know it's cause it was done picked over or Covid it seemed lacking this year. There really hasn't been a lot this year in what I consider year round decor, or other wise, to catch my interest at stores.

Comic Envy

We stopped at Comic Envy as we started to make our way back. I love this store too. I ended up purchasing a Captain Marvel comic. As I was waiting to pay the guy paying in front of me was getting his haul and ya'll he was a serious collector. This was my first time seeing one in the wild that I know of. He was like wanting the receipt to keep for his records he was that hardcore.

Goodwills

We hit up a couple Goodwills while we were out. I found some books to give to family members as gifts, and some more CDs for me, yes I still get CDs we still exist. I found from the special edition box that come out for The Phantom Menace some time ago one of the movie strip cells they had for it. If I ever have a place of my own definitely add some geek chic to the place.

Ammon's

For Supper we stopped off in Waynesville to eat supper at Ammon's. I've eaten there often over the years. They just opened their dining room as well. Across the street on a pawn shop's sign it said to vote for Thanos in 2020. This frightens me, when Thanos is considered a better choice for president.

Due to the rain it was a misty drive home. The leaves were changing and falling. I'm just sad there will be no Pumpkinfest, but hopefully at some point we'll be able to return to our events without fear. I'll just have to save my dandelion costume idea till then.

That ends another post. I hope all is well with you my friends. Hope your weekend is good, be safe, and God bless you!

A Little Update and Shopping

Happy Friday friends,

Well last weekend Fangirl and I traveled out to Asheville. It was a day just to chill out after my doctors appointments. We partook of our usual Chinese food. After filling our bellies Fangirl decided to "get lost" being bored with our usual routine. We wound up in the River Arts District. I love seeing the art on the buildings, even the abandoned have an artistic vibe even if it's just graffiti

.
After our wandering and a wrong turn we ended up at the mall. We only visit generally two stores. Hot Topic and Boxlunch. That day we found a surprise at the Hot Topic, a lot of there Funko POPs were on sale for three dollars. Fangirl and I jumped at the chance to get at least one. I've purchased some as gifts for family and friends, but I never got one for me. I was hoping to find a Doctor Who one, no luck, but I did locate a Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That was my show back in high school just ask my friends. He's now guarding the nightstand.

We ended our day with some fun at some Goodwills and Dollar Tree.

So that's a little update not much but a little one. I hope your weekend's good, may you find adventure, and God bless you.

Weekend at Captain's

Hello fellow mowers of lawns (if you have no lawn to mow... good for you),

Well May has continued to be a busy month for me. Fangirl and I made plans to visit the Captain's neck of the woods this past weekend.

Thankfully the day was lovely as we embarked on our journey. We even saw where they filmed scenes for District 12 in the Hunger Games movie.
To better write about the weekend I'm gonna break this all up into sections so we can have some better flow here.

The Food

When  we got  there we were greeted with homemade brownies and Lembas bread:

Nom Nom

They were both good, even the sugar free brownies, which surprised me cause I have had unfortunate experiences with sugar free baked goods.

We were treated to the Captains home cooking for supper all weekend. It was a yummy spread:
Friday Supper - Apple Pork Chops with Rice and shell mac n cheese
Saturday Breakfast- Scrambled eggs
Saturday Supper- Meatloaf with mac n cheese and corn (which I decided to avoid cause I didn't need to blow up Captain's toilet).

Lunches were eating out events. On Saturday we invaded a nearby Golden Corral, the Sunday as a farewell meal we unsurprisingly at a Chinese restaurant. We generally end up at one when we get together.

The Carnival

In a tiny section of the mall parking lot a carnival had set up, so on that hot Saturday we visited. Fangirl, who is very temperature sensitive had to seek shelter in the mall. Captain and I were gonna go on that mixer ride cause I love that ride and usually can ride it despite the fact I have a belly, but this one the safety bar cut of my hair practically, so I told the guy I couldn't breath, and then he had trouble getting the bar to release. I have a theory that this version of the ride was geared toward kids, cause even the Captain who was way smaller than me said it was tight on her.

The carnival wasn't a total bust Captain managed to win a cute, purple unicorn:

*Insert a Despicable Me reference here*

Video Games

There was playing of old video games that weekend. I learned they had Monster Party which they hadn't played so I showed it to them, but I seemed to be having more trouble than I usually did on level one. then it hit me I think this was one of those games I played with the Game Genie.

Then Amber suggested Super Mario World, which the First mate demonstrated how to beat the game in record time. The First mate is endued with great geek powers. He is capable of teaching math and science to high schoolers, he kills it on a Dance Dance Revolution machine, he can solve a Rubix cube like nobody's business, oh and he kept owning our butts in Munchkin all weekend. As we were watching him kill the fish with his spit fire we realized this must be how the Mushroom Kingdom does a fish fry.

He also demonstrated his video game prowess by playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. As we sat around conversing he flew through the first half of the game. He did get a little stuck with the castle on Doom Mountain, which I do too. I'm serious Ganandorf as he's known as in this game is a wuss compared to this armor plated worm.

Card Games

We played two card games that weekend, one was Cards Against Humanity. They have so many cards for this game that Captain has a special storage case for them. I like the way this game is played, but I wish there was a cleaner version out there.

The other game that was played was Munchkin which Fangirl hadn't played before. Since this in an RPG card game Amber brought out the Funyuns®, all we needed was some Mountain Dew® and we'd be Stephen Lynch's D & D.

The Captain ended up with the "Chicken on Head Curse". It made me think of the Weathercock and the chickens from Zelda, which I learned are called cuccos. When she was a cleric I called her Cleric of the Weathercock, when she changed to a wizard Wizard of the Weathercock. I then explained to them what happens if you mess with cuccos too much. This is what lead to the playing of Zelda.

Cat Antics

The Captian owns a tuxedo cat named Kara, who was I hope I'm saying this right being an unsociable sociable cat. She'd either be hanging out just outside our range or storming the table during Munchkin. We were like what level of monster is Kara?
A couple times she was attempting to jump from the kitchen table to the top of the fridge, but she'd get distracted like when Fangirl nudged her with the Funyuns® bag. I called Funyun®  interference.

Other times she was content to sit in front of the door and what the world outside.

Kitty TV Time!
It was a fun time, it'd been a while since we've visited our friend. I hope we get to meet up more often.

I hope you guys have an awesome weekend, beware the ticks, and God bless you!

While Out A Wednesday

Hello again my friends,

I'm gonna start the week with a little blurb about last Wednesday. The "I'm not lost I'm Exploring" Bumper* we saw on a car in front of us I think explained our chilly day. We "explored" a time or two. After doctor appointments we headed to the wilds of Asheville. We partook of Chinese food, I partook of a lot, some of it may have been cause my new med is possibly making me hungry more. Fun... After stuffing our faces we took a spin through downtown, and ended up "exploring" a bit before making our way to the movie theater.

Love the new saying. It use to say "Good Vibes" which is also a good saying.
We saw How to Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World. It was an ok movie, it had some beautiful scenes. I don't know if it's just me, or the movies, but I have found myself getting antsy before the end of the movies I've been to see recently like last month with Mary Poppins Returns. Maybe it's the anxiety.
Before and after the movie we hit up some Goodwills. At the one we visited prior to the movie I purchased a tie that I'm going to attempt to have turned into a bow tie for my 11th Doctor costume for AARC and Pumpkinfest. I currently lack for my costume a sonic screw driver and making my fez.
After the movie we went to my favorite Asheville Goodwill that has an outlet section.  Downside it murdered my allergies, upside to the trip I was inspired to write a little poem, which I scribbled down at the Applebee's we went to after.

Despite the chill God gave us a beautiful sunset.

I hope you all have a good week, find some adventures, and may God bless you

The Appalachian Trail

Happy Friday my friends,

As we slowly inch toward spring I know a lot of people are anticipating hiking, some may even hike despite it being winter. One trail I know that is being hiked, and will be hiked this year is the Appalachian Trail (AT for short). For the uninitiated the AT is a trail stretching from Georgia all the way up to Maine. And every year there's a hand full of peeps who try to  hike it's entire length.

Max Patch
I've actually been on the trail. I was on the section below Max Patch looking for a letterbox,, it's called Hiking the A-Trail. It's kind of exciting knowing my feet have walked where so many others have walked on their journey either at the start or finish, it depends on where they began. One of the blogger/bloggers I follow Boho Berry is gonna start her journey on the trail next month. Watching her videos on her AT Hiking channel I've been getting interested in the AT. I've come across stories before of it, I'm actually reading a book called The Appalachian Trail Hiker by Victoria and Frank Logue. I don't know if I'll finish it cause it's more of an instruction book for hiking, but I have gain knowledge I didn't have before.

My sister wants to hike that trail at some point in her life. I myself have wondered what it'd be like to hike that expanse of trail, which probably won't happen cause of a few factors, I couldn't devote the time, money, and my mental health particularly the OCD. But I still have to wonder what it'd be like the things I'd see and learn, the stories I'd collect either of my own, or others', experiences. Well even though I'll never walk it I'll follow Boho Berry on her journey and hope she can do it all. Good Luck girl!

Have any of you hiked the Appalachian trail? Or maybe another amazing trail. Tell me about your adventure in the comments. Hope you all have a good weekend full of nature based adventures and may God bless you!

Running Away on a Sunny Day

Happy Friday friends,

Seems this post was destined to be a Friday post. This is another post I did on the old blog that I thought would be worth revisiting about running away on a sunny day. Let's be frank life is a crazy mess sometimes. We get worn down and wore out. Sometimes we just gotta get away. I read or heard somewhere even Jesus knew when to step back and recharged. Now I'm not saying running away forever from your problems, just running away for a day or two for a break.

But why a sunny day? I've always been a sucker for sunny days, I recall one Friday back in high school when my friends and me still lunched outside that I looked up into that beautiful sun lit blue sky and thought what a perfect start to the weekend.  In college during a music class, I'd look out the window at the sunshine and just imagining driving away on some adventure, granted I had no license or car, but I could still dream.  I guess I see a sunny day as a prime time to hit the road and see where it takes you.

So let's imagine a bit: You've woken up Friday morning, the last week has been hard on the soul, but as you look out the window you see  the sun is out and the sky is the most brilliant blue. You feel the call of wanderlust, breathing sweetly in your heart and you must answer.

You start packing, forming a vague idea of where your going maybe it's an hour away, maybe 5.  It doesn't matter all you know is you need this day, this time, to recharge. Hopping in your vehicle you turn the key and feel your ride come to life. As you drive it's time for some music, maybe you have a playlist, a CD, or maybe a mixed tape that's been waiting for this day: Blue skies above you, the road before you, wander in your heart, and a song on your lips.

Now if this was me I'd be packing my journal to document my thoughts and the journey, my tablet cause it'd have my books* and tunes on it, and my shades. As for location I'm thinking a beach somewhere. As I mentioned in another post it was an inspiring place for me. My dream vehicles for escaping would either be a red Jeep®, a light blue Volkswagen© Van (aka hippie van) or an Electric Green Beetle Bug (if I'm running away alone). My jams well I'll bring that up in the next Musical Moment Monday.

For more inspirations to your running away adventure here is the Pinterest board I made for you to check out. I hope your good and kind to yourselves my friends. God bless you!

*I prefer paper books, but library books and travel wise I go digital.

Crazy Idea Time: What to do with a Tiny House

Happy week's end my friends,

Another weekend is upon us. I thought for this post that we'd discuss crazy ideas I have about what do do with a Tiny House. One might say live in one, while I do appreciate a home one can move where every they choose to live, I couldn't do it, unless it's a certain blue box. I first heard about tiny homes through Keri Smith's blog, I think there was a link to Tumbleweed Houses, the first company I heard of that made such. So let's see what I'd use it for:

A Dreamer's Hideaway

Keri Smith made the suggestion of using one as a writing space at one point, she love to live in one too. Well the former is what Is one of the things what I'd use one for. A place to focus and create. Like SJ Tucker, who has named her recording cabin The Pixie House, I would call my creative sanctum, Dreamer's Hideaway, cause well I'm a dreamer and it'd be my hideaway.
Ok we have a name, where would I put it? Well in the woods, maybe with a view of the mountains as well. What would be the design of it. Backwoods geek meets Junk G?

I have pulled together a Pinterest board with ideas. There's various cute little homes I wouldn't mind creating in. There's old typewriters.  Why? Cause I love vintage type writers, especially a teal Corsair*. I would put up inspiring things, inspiring words, whatever to get the creative juices flowing. Yes just my fantasy wonderland.  Little spaces made for the fairies, or my little creative juices to hang out. The outside like a Alice in Wonderland secret garden.

A place for solitude, but not completely quiet. I'd probably have some music going, you know like Dot Warner in that one ep of Animaniacs. I have to have music or something to listen to when I work.
And oh course despite being a place to seek alone time my friends would be encouraged to visit.

A Toy Museum

The other thing I'd use a small home for is a traveling toy museum. I'd make it up to look like a doll house, within I'd have toys displayed, many if not all from my own collection... well after I spruce the poor dears back up. It'd focus on toys from the late 80's and early 90's cause that's the era I grew up in. Maybe I'd sell items themed toward the era and it's toys, maybe sell some of Fangirl's soap she makes.

Bonus Crazy Idea: Geeky Travels

This departs from the tiny homes, but as I was working on this post I was listen/watching Kara of Boho Berry's Vlog. She's planning on walking the Appalachian Trail, and as I saw her digital planner layouts for this trip it hit me, I've seen a lot of things like guides and stories about the hike, but has anyone done a geek themed one. It'd be interesting to see a guise book geared toward the geeks like comic shops nearby or book stores. Actually is there any geeky travel guides in general out there?

So we come to the close of another post. I just have to ask what would you do with a small home? Have you had any crazy ideas? Let me know in the comments. I hope you have a good weekend friends, keep having ideas, and God bless you!

*PS- I was at a thrift store one time and came across one for $10, it's a not purchase I kick myself for, it's my dream typewriter.

My Strange Finds: Adventures in the Cold

It's a Strange Saturday Friends,

Well it's only strange cause I'm doing a My Strange Finds post today. The other day Fangirl and I headed out in the snow, which was gone by the time we got back, so nothing to major.  On our journey we came across some interesting things:

1. I noticed at one store a book called How to Deal with Difficult People. I pretty sure it's this one by Paul Friedman. I feel like we all need instructions for this, especially those with jobs where they have to deal with people daily.

2. I'd gone back in the games and kids section when I noticed there was Fullmetal Alchemist mangas and a DVD... IN THE KIDS SECTION! I'm like "Man if parents get that for their kids and don't realize and they all sit to watch it.... What a surprise." Fangirl assures me the parents will check the rating. You know there's people out there who probably don't!

Asheville Mural

3. Came across two geeky cars that collectively represented the  Legend of Zelda, The Walking Dead, Thunder Cats, and Doctor Who fandoms.

4. We also come across three turkeys in a populated area, something I've never seen, but maybe they wanted a bike from the bike shop, or a nice dress.

5. In Asheville I saw a billboard for I guess a dental place with a bearded tooth fairy, complete with a ballerina getup. I thought what a strange type of tooth fairy  till I remembered this is Asheville, of which I probably heard a couple of beard jokes pertaining to, so I'm like no that'd be this city's tooth fairy.

6. At a movie venue we went to above the entrance to the bathrooms was a sign near the ducts that had a ninja on it saying it was a ninja exit. I loved it, I mean come on I am the Ninja Writer, but yes made me smile.

Well that is some of my strange finds for this post. Hope you have a good weekend friends and May God Bless You!

The Halloween Season Chronicles

Hello friends! Seems our calendar has come around to the final couple months of another year. Soon we'll be running around throwing up the Christmas lights, we have to start putting them up before Thanksgiving to get done. Mom's already begun the great light check to make sure they are in good shape. But before we begin the journey to the Holiday Season, let's take a look at the recent Halloween season.

Where the Sky is Filled With Balloons

Almost every October Fangirl and I have made a trek to Franklin for their Pumpkinfest. It's the main time of the year, excluding conventions, we can rock the costumes. Fangirl went with her tried and true Fortuneteller get up, this makes the third or forth time since we've been friends that she's dressed as one.
Forgive the scowl, the sun was in her face.

I went as a Fall Fairy this year. My decision for this was based on that leaf crown. It was suppose to be used for my costume last year, but in the rush to leave I forgot it, so I decided to come up with a costume I where I could utilize it.
I've come to sprinkle Fall magic about, or at least some orange glitter.
We got to enter main street the same way we did I think the year before last and found a new tagging, the rat. Some of his toxic waste seems to have spewed on the street. The Crying Guy tag on the doorway in the background was there last time. I wonder what was their mindset. Was it just bored taggings or messages behind these pieces.

Now when we pass through the archway you see in the background some part of me always feels like your stepping into a new magical world. Which when you think about it it kinda is. It's a world of mermaids and pirates, princesses and book characters, superheroes and characters of the screen. It's where you'll see a flame shooting mini bike and a bookstore with cats. So yeah there's a bit of magic it if you look at it with the right set of eyes.
Thankfully it was a beautiful day, though more like a cool Summer day than Fall, which mean still pretty warm.
Lovely sky to receive the 22 balloon we saw lost into it's vastness
When I come into town I have two shops I love to visit. The first is one of my favorite book stores Books Unlimited. I mean it has books first off, but it has so many things I love about it. There's the wood floor, this grandfather clock you pass going into the used section of the store, they have a ship hanging from the ceiling, and of course the cats that are usually found around the shop. I didn't really pay attention this year to see if I saw the cats, I was in a fog of lack of sleep.

The second shop I visit is the Art Room. I love their selection of charms. Last year I think I purchased a charm for my charm bracelet that said beads of life which really I think reflects what a charm bracelet is. This year I decided to start a Halloween charm bracelet. I got a tea cup and saucer charm to represent my Hatter costume and a golden leaf for my fall fairy costume. I want to find charms that represent costumes of the past at some point and just other things that represent my Halloween memories.
You never know the friends you'll meet on a bench
The Thimblerig Circus was back and the lady of the trio was in her gorgeous costume again from last year, we later watched as she allowed her fellow performer to slice the banana in half she was holding in her teeth with his whip.

I LOVE THIS DRESS!
One thing Fangirl and I always do at this festival is the costume contest. This year was brutal and not the contest. It was hot and we're in layers standing in a looong line. We're in the last age group and my mouth was powder by the time we got to be judged. Neither one of us places 3rd when to a Green Arrow, 2nd to the Beast and his little Belle, and 1st was a homemade Edward Scissorhands costume, but they all deserved their wins.

Our day ended with we dining on pizza and visiting my sister awhile, where we were treated to bearded dragon antics.

Evie Pumpkin the Vampire Librarian

Our pumpkin carving was stalled when a call came in from my Granny saying my Grandpa was being sent into emergency surgery to have his appendix removed, it was 82. *Never fear he's alright he got to come home after five days in the hospital* But after the surgery we came home and got the pumpkins done. Thanks to the Daedalus Books catalogue I had books on the brain so I decided to put spooky and books together. With those themes in mind I created: Evie the Vampire Librarian!
Shush or she'll suck your blood.
I doubt you can see them in this picture, but she comes complete a scar and warts, warts were already a part of her lovely aesthetic

Halloween Night Antics

Halloween Night was kind laid back, we made our scarey themed supper, watched our usual movie and I finally caught Hocus Pocus on the tube.

Our Ham monster got black olive ears this year.

Well my friends I guess it's time to bid adieu to the Halloween Season. Although Fangirl and I are hoping to do one last bit of Halloween fun by going to see Maedea's second Halloween movie. I hope your week is good friends and may God bless you all.

A Day Long Road Trip

Good evening my friends. Well I reached another year. It was time spend with my family, extended family at the family reunion, and soul family. So I'm deeming the theme the Birthday of Family. I prefer doing like Grace in "Good Witch" and spending time with family on birthday, which aired the not long before my B-Day. Why is it around my B-day it seems my TV produces the B-Day eps?

As part of my B-Day gifts Fangirl decided to take me on a day trip to Gatlinburg, since I'd mentioned it been a bit since we'd been on a trip. Despite some anxiety problems, getting lost, rain, and pain in the legs from sitting in the car, I still enjoyed myself. I mean it's the unexpected things that makes for the great stories.

Bryson City/Cherokee

We actually ended up visiting these areas a total of 3 times each. But it gave me a chance to see parts of the area I hadn't seen, or haven't seen in a loooong time. Being smart women we stopped at Bryson City's Visitor and Heritage museum. While Fangirl took a restroom run I looked about the first floor of the museum. In a small room they'd taken pieces I guess found from various old school rooms and made a mock one room school house. In entrance room was pews and a piano from a church or two, and some other literature safe under glass. You have to wander the stories behind them. The days of learning and early Sunday mornings.

During one of the drive troughs we passed the Sequoyah Bear in Cherokee, It's part of these artistic bear statues in Cherokee. I don't think I'd seen this one yet. For those who don't know yet he is the man who I believe who developed the Cherokee Syllabary.

Nantahala Gorge

We also ended up in the Nantahala Gorge. The rain that came down formed a mist over the creek where we'd been observing rafters. I decided to tell Fangirl about the Giant Wasp/Hornet Legend I read Mountain Ghost Stories and Curious Tales of Western North Carolina by Randy Russell and Janet Barnett. Yes I'm evil.

Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies™

At the aquarium Fangirl got the opposite what she hoped. See as I've mentioned I have Anxiety. In certain crowded situations I'm fine, but sometimes when there's screaming kids, people who really have no problem invading your personal space, and lots of noise all in one area I have a tough time, so her solution was go on a weekday, sadly it was a weekday during the summer... yeah. Add in my ever worsening OCD, which I don't think I had the last time I was there, it wasn't a cakewalk, but I still managed to find good times.

One great memory of this trip was the fact I got to touch a jelly fish, and not have to be peed on afterwards! I never believed I would touch one, now I can add it to my list of life experiences. So what does a jelly fish feel like? Basically as the name implies jelly like.

Fish Amongst the Trees

One of my most favorite parts of the aquarium is the underwater tunnel. It's beautiful and a bit scary. At one point I took a break from getting pictures, which I'm prone to do a lot because my parents aren't able to go to places like this, and just observed the shark swimming above me for a bit. I watched the way it moved through the water, both scary and amazing.

I found myself looking at the fish floating by and imagining I could be a mermaid, this may have me been me coping with the anxiety too.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditurium™

I hadn't been here since my first trip to the town. We were greeted by I wanna say wax figures of a couple famous people in body alterations one is a Lizard Man that I've seen a few times on TV. Since my last visit there have been some great interactive things added. In one room where your moves effected the screen where there was some live club/trance music going on I was "Rave!", well in my mind.

I have two favorite areas of the odditurium the first is the cemetery. It's all spooky and got creepy pieces, and my favorite, the vampire hunter kit. VvvV

My other favorite thing is the swinging bridge tunnel they have, and I have to say this pic Fangirl got of me is creepy cool and my eyes just have the perfect effect.

That piece of paper in me hand is from a Zoltar Machine. It was a favorable prediction for me.

Clouds

Through out the day, wisps of fog hung low upon the mountains. Sometimes you felt you could just reach out and touch. The clouds played through the green mountains, over the blackened patches from the fires last year, and the sun could sometimes be found enter woven within it.
