Links, Links, Links

 Hello Link Clickers,
I know I said I was going to do another Thrify Geek's Library, but I got some time sensitive links here. So I switched them. I'll do my final Library post of the year on New Year's Eve. In today's post I'm going to be sharing my favorite links of things I've come across.

For Your New Year's Eve Celebrations:
These links are ideas you can do to send off 2020 and welcome 2021 in style.

The Captain shared this link by Amy Ever After on how to make a "Gingerbread Dumpster Fire".  I know Christmas is over, but I figured you could still make this then at midnight on New Year's Eve you do like Bobby did LaurenZside's 2020 Gingerbread house. I kinda feel bad for Lauren, I'd so Jethro Gibbsed my Hubby.

My mom makes a lemon pie for Christmas. I'm thinking I'd maker it for New Years or Summer, but anyway I saw the lemons laying out and it reminded me of this Atlas Obscura post about Lucky Lemon Pig for New Years. I love this! On mine I'd put wings on it to make it a flying pig, cause flying pigs are more awesome. I'd probably make these year round.

Nerdy Nummies' Rosanna Pansino chick just shared a video of her making Star Beignets for New Years. If I make beignets anytime of the year I'm making them this way. I love stars!

Geeky Things:
These are links geared toward the geeky side of life.

When I was a kid and received the American Girl catalogue, I'd pour over that catalogue. I think the doll I really wanted back then was Molly McIntire. My grandparents bought me her Christmas story for Christmas one year. I used it as my oratorical contest piece. But sadly she's no longer available to purchase, unless you slum through what will be over inflated used offerings. But they do offer a new doll I would not mind having in my toy collection, Courtney Moore. As a child of the late 80's/early 90's I think she's totally awesome. She even has a working PAC-Man™ machine that you can get.

This Wonder Woman trainers look so cool. If they had them in my size I wouldn't mind them. Another super powered link that has been of use is Entertainment Weekly's article about CW's upcoming line up. I was able to make my viewing schedule, something I usually do in the Fall. Most of the weekly shows I watch are from CW. I have a few on other channels I watch stuff from, which I've looked up to see when their going to start if they haven't already.

I was perusing the Virtual Ninja Turtle Museum. I love seeing the old toys and ones in my collection, it helps to see what went with what and what I need to buy that my sister took with her. It's here I discovered some of my turtle stuff was second hand cause we only got a piece of one of the role play sets as kids, which bites cause I didn't get my katana. ><

Ok I first heard about KFC's console on Geekologie but I felt they weren't sure if it was a gag or not, but according to Geek Native it's an actual think that's pretty powerful, and apparently heat your chicken. I guess it'd be a great way to reheat chicken strips I bring home.

I love reading Epbot, you never know what geeky thing she's gonna have. Well her husband and her do themed Christmas decor each year. Well one three foot tree was Alice in Wonderland themed. I think the card flowers are so cute. I wanna make some!

Personal Links:

Every so often I like do a rundown of the other places you can find me, which are usually on the right of the page.

Twitter- Sometimes I only need a few words to get my thoughts out, so I send it out in a tweet, you can keep up when I post new blog posts here.

Tumblr- Yes I still have a Tumblr called my Brain Dump. This is where I make post for thoughts I wanna get out of my head, but isn't long enough for a blog post, plus my Tumblr shares. I also post links to new blog posts here.

Instagram- This is where I post photos of my life.

Facebook- This is mostly another place to share post updates, but I do share my favorite Facebook posts here too.

Deviant Art- I'm a creative person. I take artsy photos, drawings, poetry, a bunch of stuff, so I display it here.

Pinterest- I love this site. I pin crafting ideas, geek stuff, stuff I can use in books, it's great, and yes I post links to the blog here.

Six Word Memoirs- Can you tell your life in six words? I do.

Amazon Idea Lists- Yes I still shop here, mostly gift items I can't find elsewhere, but I'm not happy with it's creator, and mostly I shop the third party stores instead of Amazon itself. But these are some of my lists if your looking for gift ideas.

Youtube- I mostly watch videos, but I have posted two videos of me doing readings of my poetry.

Well that is all for my links post. I hope you all have a good week, stay safe, and God bless.

Jesus' Birthday Gift 2020

 Happy Holidays my Friends,
I'm coming to you a few days earlier, because my usual post day is Friday, most the time, and this Friday is Christmas, so I don't wanna be thinking of blogging. Well we're in the home stretch of Christmas and I'm barely holding on to my sanity. As all families we have traditions in our house that we try to do every year. Putting up the tree close Thanksgiving, my parents start playing just a Statler Brothers Christmas album in October, I prefer to start listening to Christmas music after Thanksgiving and decorating the tree. My parents get into the spirit early. Late in December traditions include my Momma's Christmas goodies, I just ate the left over dipping chocolate she used to make "suckers". We also go Christmas light looking, which we did last night. I also have personal holiday traditions that I do. Every year I use my creative powers and make a gift for Jesus, that way He has a gift just for him, since to me this was the day chosen to celebrate his birth. I also do a tradition I learned to do from Reba's Happy Birthday, Jesus on her Merry Christmas to You album, before you open a gift you wish Jesus a Happy Birthday and that your opening this one for Him. Well this year I decided to write another poem one that involves the various trials we have faced this year. No point sugar coating it this year was a dumpster fire, and even though we were battered and bruised, and in my case low on faith, we came through. I actually contemplated not doing it this year, cause I was, and still am that low, but the morning of the 21st inspiration struck.  So here is my poetic birthday gift this year:

Jesus' Birthday Poem 2020
This has been a dumpster fire year
But you've still been here
Through the chaos of a pandemic
You've remained stoic
As we treaded a crazy election
You've kept us in your recollection
When the mental health ills grew bolder
I'm sure you were at my shoulder
In the bleakness of our push and shove
You continue to show your never-ending love
So, I take a moment to remember all you do
On the day we choose to say "Happy Birthday to You"

I actually decided to make a small video of me doing a reading, that I also made the same day, I took pictures of frost on the truck for visuals. In the audio, you can hear my Mom doing Christmas cooking. I was going to rerecord it, but I'm like this is what my Christmas sounds like, so what the hey. So please give it a watch and a like.

Hope you all have a good Christmas, enjoy your eve, and God bless!

Thrifty Geek's Library: The Unusual Suspects

Hey Book Friends,
Well, since I was crappy at blogging this year, I have a couple library posts I need to do before the year ends. So here's the first. This post is going to be unusual books or books with
unusual things in it that I read this year.

The Lightning-Struck Heart by T.J. Klune

This is the first book in the Tales from Verania series. It follows a wizard in training, Sam, who has to help his knight crush, Ryan, save the kingdom's Prince, who Ryan is dating. This was the weirdest and funniest book I read this year. I was literally laughing out loud. If this book could bleed it'd bleed sparkly rainbows. There are so may gay characters, which I'm happy to see even though I'm straight. My favorite character has to be Gary, the hornless unicorn. He has no filter when it comes to talking about sex, and also spews glitter when he's angry. That being said it does have sexual themes so avoid if you don't like.
I was telling Fangirl about this book, and she started reading it like when she'd be waiting for her food or in line at places and she couldn't read it in public, because she'd be laughing at it.
Overall this was an awesome book, I hope the library gets more of this series. It was a perfect read in this pandemic, it really takes your mind off the dumpster fire that was this year. I totally recommend you guys read this. I definitely want to add this to my books to add to my library permanently list. Which I really actually need to start making.

The House at the End of Hope Street by Menna van Praag

This is the tale of Alba who is dealing with problems in her life and finds herself on Hope Street at a beautiful house, where she is welcomed to live 99 days and in that time turn her life around. The house apparently has had many famous tenants and is very helpful in many ways. There are also the house's keeper, Peggy, and other tenants who are on their own journeys.
This was an interesting book. I love we had so many characters with their own stories playing out along with the main character. I was surprised at some of the reveals at the end. I love the house itself. It sounded so beautiful, and there's plenty of pictures of famous people around who've stayed there. If you are down in life, this house will totally kick your butt in gear to turn it around. I also have to say "dang" to the family drama, I thought my family had some drama going, I think Alba's family might surpass us, maybe.
If you love writing and books I think you might like this book. Books and writers do get mentioned if I'm not badly mistaken. Been a little bit since I read it. So check it out.
This was another pretty good read this year and I'm probably going to add this to my permanent book collection at some point.

Well that's all for this post of Thrifty Geek's Library. I know for sure there's going to be one more before the new year. I'll probably post that Monday. In the next post I'll be revealing my annual Christmas tradition that I do that involves me making a gift for Jesus.
Wishing Happy Yule a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate those holidays, and a belated Hanukkah! Have a good holiday whoever you are, hope it's good, and God bless you!

2020 Tales: Ginseng,Snakes, and Gratitude

Happy Friday my friends,
Well we are creeping closer to Christmas. This year has been meh right now. My mental health loves to take a dive this time of year, this year has been bad. I'm just not really feeling it, I had a spark, but then more mental health problems came and spat on it.  But I'm dealing the best I can.  Well one thing people love to do this year is look back over the year. Although as many have said this year has been a dumpster fire. I was actually looking through this year's photos and was reminded of a time when my folks managed to pull a laugh out of me when we were still quarantined up. This was when you could only go out for the essentials. My folks were going for a supply run and asked if I wanted anything. I said my usual joke "a big cookie", well they comeback later with a dang big cookie cake. I also remember flymagedon. We had a surplus of flies in the house for some reason at one point this year, and I would have to go through the house with the fly swat getting flies. It's funny I can squash a flying mosquito with my bare hands like nothing, but getting flies with a fly swat, not my strongest skill.

 Ginseng Hunting

The most I did this year till things opened back up a bit was reading and Supernatural binging, but despite being holed up in this year we've still managed to go on adventures. My Dad and I went ginseng hunting for the first time in many years. We use to do it a lot when I was growing up to get a little extra money, well this year my Dad decided to do it so we'd have some extra Christmas money this year. I went with him in case there was problems. I found two on my own without any help for the first time ever*, one my Dad missed, in his defense it was in the middle of the dirt road, and he wasn't expecting one to be growing their, he was focusing on getting to the places in the woods where they do grow. Well we decided to go one Sunday. That was a mistake, because the mountain above our house was like I-40, very busy. Turns out we weren't the only ginseng hunters out, and the guy who does horseback rides, who I will not blast in this blog, had some riders, and there were two dogs with the riders. We were up in the woods with our dog. So my Dad decided to get further in the woods, so we ended up high on a steep bank. Now picture this from my point of view: I'm scared of heights and my ankles and feet hate banks, and we're high up on a steep bank, plus I'm trying to keep my balance and not fall while holding onto a beagle mix dog who's pulling at the leash, because he wants to say "Hi". I was not a happy human for a few minutes as we scaled that. But it was worth it in the end I found my second ginseng plant.

 Snake Problems

This year involved way too many close encounters with snakes. We had one snake climb up the outside of one of our living room window and I had one cross this trail I walk. Back in August maybe after our Church Decoration day, my Mom comes home with two trash bags of flowers. My Mom and some other ladies of the church like to reuse the flowers they toss out in the special bin they have up at the graveyard, plus we retrieved our flowers that we reuse every year, cause we too broke to buy all the flowers we need each year to decorate everybody we knows grave up there. Well anyway back to my story, my folks brought back some bags of these flowers and asked if I'd unload them. So I go to do that and I move a bag and there is a graveyard snake that must have hitched a ride. I couldn't help of think of that episode of Most Scariest Places On Earth where they talked about St. Louis Cemetery Number One. It's where Marie Laveau is buried and they say you sometimes see a snake there. I'm not a fan of snakes, I know not all of them are venomous, but I'm not an expert in which are or aren't, so I'm creeped out by them no matter what. Well I go to grab a hoe if anything to get it out of the back of the truck, I don't think I have the heart to even kill a snake. So I go to get it and I think I saw it go, or assumed it went, into the wood we still had in our truck from our last wood haul. It eventually must have found it's way out, because when we got the wood later it was nowhere to be found. And finally the most scary of my snake related stories. My Mom was chilling in her comfy chair in the living room when she felt something on her arm, she moved and sitting there on the chair arm running it's tongue up my Mom's arm was, you guessed it, a snake. Yeah, I think I somehow slept through that mess. Ok, done with the creepy crawly stories.

Gratitude

Finally I'm gonna take a gratitude moment. I've tried to keep gratitude sections in my journals, but they never really work for me. I either would just be grateful fro the same things or when I tried doing it Jewel's Method, I found it hard to pull different things to be grateful for each day, because I couldn't find things to be grateful for besides my usual daily things I'm always grateful for. Last night I started thinking of things I was grateful for during this dumpster fire of a year, also I was watching a bit of this video when I was writing this section and felt it was appropriate for here. Anyway here is my list:

1: During this pandemic there has only been three members of my family, that I know of, that has had Covid two have recovered one was just diagnosed and their still doing good.

2:That we didn't have certain people living with us anymore. It was rough enough living with certain people during normal election years when their candidate won, I'd hate to be living with them during this pandemic and their candidate lost.

3: Grapes, yes weird thing to be grateful for, but I am. See my parents have been buying fruit lately and I love green grapes. So they've been buying a not, which has been good for me, because I'm prone to stress eat when I have anxiety and this gives me a healthier option to munch on.

4: Candy Cane Peppermint ChapStick®, last Christmas in my stocking I received like five of this kind of chapstick®. Well my lips were getting really chapped and I couldn't find the lip balm I'd use on occasion, which I just found. But I'm keeping them next to my computer tower to reapply every so often cause I drink a lot of drinks. The burn of it feels good on my lips and it smells so good.

I hope you all reflect on the good things that happened to you this year. Tell me what your grateful for in the comments. I hope you have a good weekend, stay safe and God bless!
*Thrifty Geek*

*When we went ginseng hunting as a kid my sister and I would follow behind my Mom mostly. Well one time she pointed at an area and said there's a ginseng plant in here see which one of you can find it. I found it. It was my first find.

What We Need Now: Gifts, Chocolate, Music, and Love

 Happy Monday friends,
This year has been a dumpster fire I know. I actually did a dumpster fire drawing for my friends' comic in their Christmas cards this year. Well I've decided to share some things we need this year.

What the World Needs Now: Friend Gifts
My friends have been generous with geeky gifts this year. While not necessary it is nice they think of me to do this. The Captain even decided to send gifts year and we haven't exchanged gifts in a few years. So I decided to do a friend gift haul.

Captain's Gifts:
Since the Captain has Cystic Fibrosis and is on the list of people who really can't afford to get Covid she's been stuck at home during this time, except on the rare occasion and she has to take extreme measures to keep herself safe. So she got my Amazon wish list from Fangirl and got this Doctor Who Three Item Set:

The mug is such beautiful colors, very galaxy ombre. Definitely have to have me some hot chocolate or tea in it. I was so excited to get another sonic screwdriver for my collection. It's the 12th Docotor's second sonic screwdriver , which I didn't have yet, actually I don't have a lot of them yet. This one just isn't a toy it's a flashlight, which made me very excited for some reason... It's currently hanging out with the other sonics in my fez.  The last of the trio is a pleather journal that looks like the TARDIS on the outside. The front cover has beautiful blue foil Gallifreyian writing. Can I just say inside of this journal smells awesome, yes I'm a book sniffer and proud of it. I told the Captain I was still huffing it on Facebook and Fangirl's like "That's the nerdiest thing I've heard her say."

Fangirl's Gifts:
Fangirl's gifts all centered around D & D and Funko Pops® this year:

The first one is my favorite characters I had in my party from Baulder's Gate II Minsc and Boo. Boo so cute up there on top of his head! My other two are from the Critical Role line. One is Grog Strongjaw and Percy De Rolo III, no I'm not gonna try to type out his full name. Fangirl hinted there maybe more Critical Role ones coming. So I may have to get or build a shelf for them.

My Gifts to Fangirl:
While I can't tell you what I got Captain, cause I haven't got them to her yet, I can tell you  Fangirls, I got her a Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia magnet at Hot Topic, from Goodwill I found her a knitting loom set with a couple yarn skiens in it. I'm gonna get her to make me a slouchy hat from one of them. One girft came from a I guess you call them gumball machine, yes I still get stuff from those. I frequently rock jewelry from them. It was a red "crystal" that was more Fangirl's aesthetic. Lastly I got her this cute Castiel sticker. She has a few hamsters and a guinea pig that have crossed the rainbow bridge so I thought it'd be perfect for her.

Food the Word Needs Now: HOLO CHOCOLATE!
Cristine of Simply Nailogcal is the Holo Queen, we all know this, but she's upped the holo level with Holographic Chocolate. Her boyfriend Beyyyn and her used this holo film from some holo sunglasses she made as a mold so the chocolate would be able to refract light like the film does. The final result is the most beautiful chocolate I've ever seen. What more could you want it's got chocolate, rainbows, and science as a device for fun!

Musical Moment: Songs the World Needs Now
Every so often I've come across some songs that I think the world needs to hear. So I decided to put together a list of songs we all need right now:

You Need to Calm Down by Taylor Swift- Oh my Jack people need this song right now. Not just the problems mentioned in the song, with all the drama going on now people just need to calm down. Even on a local level the government's got problems going on. It's crazy.

The World Need A Drink by Terri Clark- I have this on her Definitive Collection album. This song was written by Eric Church and originally released in 2004 for an unreleased Honkytonk Songs album, and what's sad is 16 years later a lot of the the things mentioned in this song is still relevant. Yes once this pandemic dies down I think we all need drinks, be they alcohol or non alcoholic, for peeps like me. We all get together and hash out the problems.

Bring It All Back by S Club 7- I feel like we just need some feel good music right now. So I dip back to the music of my teen years for this. This song just always puts me in a good mood. It has great advice bout never giving up, going for your dreams, and when life gets a little rough bring it back to you.

Bells, Bows, Gifts, Trees by Toderick Hall- Even though I'm really not feeling the holiday this year, you got to have a little holiday, and Toderick Hall released the perfect holiday song for 2020's Holiday season. It's another parody to his Nail,Hair, Hips, Heels song from his Haus Party, Part 1. It has what we're all wishing for this year, and our new Scrooge! I think it will be a good reminder in what I hope is years to come what we endured in 2020. Let's all prance a little this season. This has to be my favorite new holiday song this year.

Let There Be Light by Point of Grace- For me the most hopeful Christian music that I think expresses how a Christian is suppose to feel is been Christian Pop. I was raised in a Gospel and Bluegrass household, and while there is some songs I love from those genres I just felt they were sad sounding and not hopeful. Point of Grace has made some of the most hopeful songs that inspire me. I've not been feeling Christmas or my faith this year, and this song played on my Spotify Christmas playlist and I felt hope, a reminder what this season is suppose to mean to me. It's to remember a being of hope and love came to give us those gifts.

We Need Love
I'm going to admit this year I've gotten away from my faith. I know with everything going on you figure it draw me closer, but that's not been the case with me. My early anxiety triggers were religion related, and even when we were attending church I still wasn't feeling connected and I guess with all my bad anxiety this year I haven't really felt blessed. I also don't feel like the best of Christians cause some of the things in the Bible makes my stomach turn or gets my anxiety going, and I don't feel at home with my fellow Christians, I love them and are good friends, but I don't feel myself around them. I'm also best friends with Pagans and people in the LGBTQ+ community. I believe love is love.

I'm also not happy with the way some Christians do others. The thing I agree with the most in the Bible is our Lord and Savior showing us and telling us to love, no matter who they are or what they've done just love. And I'm seeing so called Christian companies discriminating in who they help. That's not right, Jesus helped and loved everyone. He ate with sinners, defended those who transgressed against the Law, and healed those who came to him. I think my fellow Christians need to open their hearts to love again, we all need to open our hearts to love, especially now.

I hope your week is good, remember to love, and God bless you.

Silly Walks and Supernatural Plushies

 Hello Friends,

It's that time to regal you with another tale of an outing with Fangirl, cause you know we're always getting into something. The mental health hydra was raging this day, but it was beautiful day. I had an errand to run to Walmart, so Fangirl decided to lunch at nearby Huddle House where she's gone so often they know her. I was a littler wary of dining in with the latest increase of Corona cases (yes I wore my mask and used hand sanitizer).
I ran my Christmastime errand, which I thought was going to take forever cause every open aisle had a line. I managed to find an open self check out. Which made me uneasy touching, I have anxiety with a bit of the germaphobia side of OCD, I'm sorry. After that we headed out to Asheville to take in some geek culture, aka comic book stores.

In Transit Part One

As we were on our way to the first comic store, we stopped at a red light, and as I was sitting there and a guy decided to walk across the four lane and as he started to walk he had this weird long gait that put me in the mind of "The Ministry of Silly Walks" skit by Monty Python. He made it across quicker the last two lanes.
As we walked the street to Morgan's Comics I came across some sticker graffiti that makes me wonder if they took lessons from Keri Smith's "How to be a Guerilla Artist"

Morgan's Comics or "The Nerd Sanctuary
I love this store. It hits all my geek areas. Merlin who works there came in and he had been there the last time we were there, but saw us and greeted us like old friends and he's only talked to us once. Morgan was rocking a thrift store Legend of Zelda shirt, which I had to complement her on. They have a TV in there that they play geeky YouTube music videos on and Fangirl got excited at one they played for Christmas called "Sammy, Baby" a Supernatural parody to Earth Kitt's "Santa, Baby." Speaking of Supernatural the store had a new display with plushies. They had some Sams and Deans, and Fangirl made off with one of each, I told her they were just early Christmas presents to herself. Had they'd had a Castiel she'd bought one of those too. My purchase was a Doctor Who comic. It's of the Thirteenth Doctor number 11 (In which 13 shows her 10 a bit, you Whovians I know followed that).

In Transit Part Two
*There will be Supernatural Season 15 spoilers is this section so avoid if you haven't seen it.*
As we were driving away from Morgan's we were in the turn off lane and some guy who apparently didn't know there was a turn off lane came up behind us like a mad person, about hit us, then honked at us. After we turned on to the interstate I heard Fangirl breath a little heavy, and of course I made sure she was ok, and we talked about it. I said the good Lord must have been looking out for us, to which my friend replied "Thank you Jack!"

As we turned on Merriman Avenue I looked across the road at Loretta's Cafe and the was a sign that said something along the lines of "Sandwich worshiping wrong?" With the way I was putting away turkey sandwiches after thanksgiving I was doing some sandwich worshiping.

Comic Envy
It was mostly looking at merch at this comic store today, there was nothing I wanted in my price range. I did see a K.K. Slider plush, some Studio Ghibli stuff, and a cute Stuff Jiggly Puff. It's one of my favorite Pokemon. I actually have one as my buddy in Pokemon Go. The topic of discussion at the store that day was The Art of Seduction that I first heard about on Geekologie. It's a KFC sponsored Lifetime mini movie, that I think spoofs both on Lifetime movies, and KFC. It looks hilarious I may actually have to watch it.

In Transit Part Three
Fangirl and I took one of our adventures through the back roads to avoid  traffic. We went through a tiny home community. I'm always fascinated by these homes. I myself have a kinda maxi tiny home I have in my dream homes.  We ended up near a dance studio, and I got a glimpse of a dancer performing inside.

Thrift and Dollar Stores
We hit up almost every thrift store in the county, but shopping wasn't with me today. Most of my purchases were Christmas or birthday gifts for other peeps. The only things I got was yet another pair of headphones from Dollar Tree, I'm so gonna invest in a better quality, and at one of the Goodwills a Buffy the Vampire Slayer™  called Spike & Dru: Pretty Maids All in a Row by Christopher Golden for the Buffy collection. I did see a couple pens at Family Dollar I'd love to have. They looked like scepters but one had a diamond on top and another a pearl, all fake obviously.

We ended our day doing curbside service at Ammon's Drive-In. Fangirl made me hungry for her shrimp skewers. And the warmth of the day turned chilly. I got to see some Christmas light displays, so that was cool.  Got home and had a good night sleep. And that was about it to my day. Pretty full day and only one anxiety break down, well one outward break down. I hope you all have a good weekend, stay safe, and God bless you.

My Supernatural Story

 Hello Supernatural Friends,

So Supernatural came out in the years following Buffy the Vampire and Angel. I was actually trying to find a show to fill that void. Well my final year of college it came out, and I watched the first few episodes of it, and I don't know if it was too dark for me at that point in my life, or I got caught up in college matters, I just wandered away from it. I know insane right. I remember I watched the third episode cause it had Amy Acker from Angel in it.

Eventually I started watching The Vampires Diaries and other CW programming that usually showed ads for that week's episode. A few times if the episodes add looked weird enough or had Felicia Day in it I'd give it a watch. So I did end up seeing "The French Mistake", "Changing Channels", and "LARP and the Real Girl" when they first came out.

About 2014 or 2015, Fangirl starting watching the show and became a massive fan in no time, so of course I was hearing about. Well one morning I was up and channel surfing and saw the daily binge TNT does and figures I'd watch some, and kinda got into it. It become part of a list of shows I like, but have to be in the right mood to watch like Bones and NCIS

Well a few years ago I was watching Big Bang Theory on Thursday and decided when the commercials I'd watch what was happening on Supernatural then when the first went off I'd watch the rest of SPN. Well I got more interested in what was happening on SPN than BBT became what was watched during SPN's  commercials. And I enjoyed it as part of my Thursday line up ever since.

Now it's ended, and as I've said before about the episode: Dang.  It's probably going to be something my peeps and I will talk about for the rest of our lives.

What's your Supernatural story? Tell me about it in the comments. Also, are they any songs other than Kansas' "Carry on my Wayward" and the 200th Musical episode, that you associate with the show. They can be from the show or not. Let me know that in the comments, I'm thinking my next Musical Moment the playlist maybe a Supernatural inspired one.

Hope your weekend is "supernatural", keep the holy water close, and Chuck bless you, not that he really does that sort of thing.

Random Weeknight Musings

 Hello my friends,

Happy Doctor Who day guys! I spent my morning watching Episodes with the first Doctor and this morning and when I took a nap I dreamed about the Doctor. Not a bad dream to have. 47 years since the show started 8 years and a few months since I started watching it. *waves 13th Doctor's sonic around*
So today I decided to just do some random stuff I wanna talk about that I either forgot to mention in the last post or won't have made much in it's own post. So let's get started.

Daily Treasure: Homemade Gifts

Last month when their was a weather shift the arthritis in my hands acted up as they sometimes do when that happens (thank you Momma's side of the family with the early onset of arthritis). I did have some finger-less gloves we made from socks for it, but I couldn't find them. So I was telling my friend about my hands, and she said let me make you some finger-less gloves. I told her not to worry about it and waste the yarn she could use for paying customers, but being big hearted as she is, she said don't  worry about it. Well when we went out last time she presented me with these:

They fit nicely and will definitely combat the cold and arthritis. In addition to finger-less gloves she makes hats, scarfs, and blankets. If you like what you see email her at tigerdragon2001@yahoo.com with the subject Thrifty Geek Sent Me.

Games I'm Playing Right Now

I'm really late to this game, only because I only now have a device that plays it: Pokemon Go! I love this game! It's so cute! I have a Eevee named Painter following me around, I'm hoping to find a Jiggly Puff. That's one of my favs. My sister got me a Jigglypuff hat a few Christmases ago, click the link for the hilarious pic me and my sister took. I'm learning how to do everything, but it's fun to do.  I'm surprised what I've found here in the backwoods. I saw a magikarp hat and was like I gotta wear that! See in My Sims Kingdom my sim wears a fish hat and I thought it was cute, well now I'm wearing another. I think that's going to be a thing for me in games. If there's a fish hat in the game, my character will wear it.

Speaking of fish hats... My friends and me have been talking about starting an online D & D game. So using that Critical Role favorite: D&D Beyond, I've been making my first character. I went with a half elf ranger who wears, you guessed it, a fish hat. I'm thinking something like this, but green with eyes. What I said that's gonna be a thing with my game characters.

Supernatural Finale

All I can say is dang. I thought I was gonna have to hide in the Fangirl Bunker. I offered digital tissues to all my fellow SPN peeps. I still have a bunch of past episodes I haven't seen yet, so I still have some new to me coming, once I can watch it without getting down. I'll be dedicating a post to the show next post. Anyone else gonna check out Walker this January. I use to watch the original when I was growing up, but I may check this one out. I find it amusing since Walker Texas Ranger was one of his aliases.

 Capital One Christmas

Momma owned me tonight. She was watching that new Christmas Capital One commercial and she's like is that John Travolta? I'm like no. So she asked for me to look it up, so I did, I had to bow down and concede to her greatness. She was right.

Well that was shorter than I thought it was gonna be. Well not much going on right now. I'm gonna just chill out tonight maybe battle on Pokemon Go, and hang in this chat room I'm on. Have a good night my friends, stay warm, and God bless.

Of Sonic Screwdrivers and Doctor Who Comics

Hello Geeky Friends,

Fangirl and I ventured out to Asheville again, yes we were armed with our masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing skills. We learned a night or so before that our favorite Chinese restaurant in Asheville, Shogun's. So we graced it with our presence once more. Yes they were taking safety measures. It's been nice to have one of my favorite foods again the last couple months.

Fortune cookie wisdom for today...

The Asheville Mall

We paid a visit to the mall. I visited Gamestop, and then the two of us went to Boxlunch and Hot Topic. At the latter I purchased the 13th Doctor's Sonic like I wanted to this month. It made me so happy. It has two buttons one gives you the regular sound of the sonic, the other button has a different sound and makes the crystal in the end turn. I love it! I also did some Christmas shopping while I was there. I'm actually gonna have everything ordered and bought before December maybe. Yay me!

The random walking stick, what's it's story? Is it waiting for it's owner, or been abandoned. What adventures has it been on?

Comic Envy

We paid a visit to Comic Envy. Fangirl probably wanted to slap me. She got a My Hero Academia blind grab bag thing again and last time she wasn't happy with what she got, so she said she was gonna try again, and I said I was gonna laugh if she got someone she didn't like again. She got another she didn't like, I had to laugh, cause I said I would. I purchased Captain Marvel: The War of the Realms Issue #7. I was rather amused by this comic. First you have a body swapping situation and one of best scenes where in the foreground something serious is going on, but in the background something hilarious is going on. I got a good laugh out of it. I also purchased a Lego Catwoman:

 Isn't she purrrfect?

Morgan's Comics

We made a stop at Morgan's comics. We chatted Supernatural with the shop's owner. She's so cool. I love just browsing the shelves comic, games, and just geek stuff. I ended up purchasing two Doctor Who comics, Thirteenth Doctor: Issue #9 and the Tenth Doctor/13th Doctor Team Up Issue #2. Love me some Who! The Owner was trying to keep up with the election news. This was the day after the election, so the counting was still going on, actually in some places isn't it still going on?

Goodwill
We hit up a couple Goodwills that seem to be providing signs that day:

So yes it was a nice day. Got some retail therapy in, hung out with one of my best friends, and had good food.

Election

What about that election? Like this year hasn't been crazy enough. I don't really talk politics here cause it's confusing and I don't understand it most the time, that's why I hadn't registered to vote before. This year though I felt a need to exercise a right women of old fought for me to have. I did register as unaffiliated, despite being raised in a Democrat house I feel I don't fully support any party. Another reason I don't talk politics is my family. While the people in my house are Democrat, I got a bunch of Trump supporters in my family. We had a Trump supporter living with us when he won. He was a very loud supporter. Since the election has been decided I'm lucky I've only had to put one family member on a thirty day snooze on Facebook cause every post it seemed they made was bashing the decision and I love them so I decided to just temporarily mute them till around Christmas time and then they'll be moved on to the holidays hopefully. I'm just glad I don't have to see anymore political commercials.

Well I'm gonna continue to binge classic Who and just chill out a while. I hope your Hump day is good, stay weird, and God bless!

Musical Moment: Days of the Week Playlist

 Hello Music Loving Friends,

It's time for another Musical Moment! In this segment we're gonna focus on songs that mention days of the week. I was listening to my music and noticed songs I had that mentioned days of the week and thought about making a playlist for the days of the week. So let's get this week started:

Only on Days That End in "Y" by Clay Walker- The first song on the list involves all of them. It's about a person who can't seem to forget an ex.

Sunday Girl by Florrie Arnold- I'm a Sunday Girl! Yup! This is a rewritten version of the Blondie song by the same name, which is the version I have up on the playlist, but I love this version made for the Nina Ricci Nina L'Elixir Perfume advert. I came across this version for the first time on a post on the now non-existent blog Bohemian Pages, which I believe included a link to this beautiful video. I consider this to be a more happy fantasy version of the song. Sadly it's not on Spotify, in fact, the only place I have located this version of the song is on Apple Music.

Sunday in the South by Shenandoah- This song has beautiful images of a "Southern Sunday", well it does mention a ragged rebel flag flying, not crazy about that, but this is a Country song from the 90's so yeah, that was a thing.

Sunday Girl by Brandon and Leah- Another beautiful song about another Sunday girl, and in their head it's always Sunday. This has the same sound vibe as the previous Sunday girl songs I've mentioned.

I Don't Have to Be Me Till Monday by Steve Azar- A upbeat country tune about not dealing with reality for a long weekend. I love the video to this song. My interpretation is everyone getting to live their dream lives for a little bit.

Thursday by Jess Glynne- A beautiful song about loving who you are.

Friday Night by Eric Paslay- A song of the kind of person the singer wants to be to a person and they'd rather be a Friday Night than a Monday morning. I'd agree with this.

Friday Night by The Click Five- I love this upbeat song, about the singer trying to get their love to sneak out with them.

Saturday in the Park by Chicago- The story of a you guessed it "Saturday in the Park". Nice trumpet in this song.

Saturday Night by Jo Dee Messina
- This is probably my favorite song in the whole list. It's about a woman's hope to find love on a Saturday night. I just love to jam out to this one.

Saturday Night Divas by Spice Girls- The group's harmonies are on display in this song about kissing a wrong doing man goodbye.

Yeah not everyday has a song in this list. Sorry not everyday has a song I like thus far. What are your favorite song with days? Let me know.
I hope you all have a good week, keep the music playing, and God bless.

Halloween 2020

 Happy Halloween friends,

Well it's a full moon tonight. I'm watching the old Addams Family on TV. We'll probably be partaking of our usual Halloween feast see my past Halloween Post. We've already snacked on the pumpkin cookies my Mom baked.  We'll be watching our old Halloween staples tonight I assume. I really haven't been in a Halloween mood this year. The mental health hydra has been bothering me a lot lately.

Artsy Fartsy Time: Jack'o'lanterns 2020

We carved our pumpkins last night. I was at a loss what to do this year so I went with a Geeky pumpkin:

This was my folks offering Mom conjured up this year:

The shall light our place tonight as will the rare Halloween blue moon tonight and Mars. I also send out condolences to Sean Connery's family. He will be missed.

I hope you have bats in your skies tonight, magic all around, Happy Halloween! As always Good bless you!

Crazy Idea Time: Corsair Typewriter Dreams

 Hello creative friends,

So today I'm delving into my creative ideas. I've seen where some people have made computer keyboards from or look like old typewriters'. One company Qwerkytoys has made the Qwerkywriter® which is a keyboard old in look, but new in parts.

But I'd like to do something different. I was at a thrift store a few years ago and came across a teal Corsair for $10. I fell in love with it, but couldn't justify buying it, now all this time later I'm still kicking myself for not getting it. I love old typewriters, funny since despite leaving in the computer age I was force to type my research papers on my Mom's electronic typewriter and hated it. Now I want to own two. A clunkier Corona like R.L. Stine had in the Goosebumps movie and make it where it works. But the Corsair I've decided I'd love to make it a keyboard for my tablet and have a makeshift laptop. The Corsair is a traveling typewriter so I could go somewhere and just type if I didn't wanna sit at my desktop writing a story. I'd just have to find someone who could do it without damaging the Corsair in the process. It'd be cool if it could be done. I could write at the park, or a coffee house. Love the vibe of a coffee house, particularly independent ones, but coffee usually hates my stomach, so I'm the chick buying hot chocolate.

So that was a delve into my crazy ideas. An idea for that world where money is no object. Do you guys have any project ideas you'd like to do? If so let me know in the comments.
I hope you guys have a good weekend, and may God bless you guys!

It All Started With a Snapping Turtle

 Happy Weekend friends,

Well today I'll be talking about well last Saturday. It was Fangirl and mine's monthly outing that we've only been able to pick up again as we're able to venture out again. It was a rainy day, that was a crappy thing. So we get started driving back toward civilization and we'd had one out of towner in front of us who had to finally pull over cause I assume they have no clue where they were or were freaking out on our curvy roads, I don't know and I really shouldn't assume. Anyways we get right past a produce stand and there's a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and we're like "What the heck?", and there was a huge butt snapping, or mud, turtle. The vehicle that was in front of us pulled over to block it from getting ran over. We went on not because we where heartless, but cause hello it's a snapping turtle, and I like all my fingers.

After some errands we went to spend the day in Asheville. Out first stop was lunch at Tao's which has opened their dining room (please keep in mind we are wearing masks, social distancing, and using hand sanitizer during this day). I was so happy I haven't had Chinese food since March. It was amazing.

Morgan's Comics

Well we've been going to the comic book stores more than once a year now, which makes me happy. Our first stop was Morgan's Comics. We actually were there when I think Morgan was there. I love this shop especially since we're not being crushed by Free Comic Book Day crowds. It allows me to browse a bit. Saw the first comic in the Doctor Who 10 and 13 crossover. Wanting to save some money I decided against getting it this time. If they have it the next time I go I may grab it.
The only thing I ended up getting was a pin from a Dungeons and Dragons box. I bought a Chaotic Good alignment pin cause that's gonna be my first D & D character's alignment. I also feels like this describes me in real life as well, but probably not in the same sense as the game.
Because of the pin one of of the workers was telling us about the games they hosted online, which once I have experience with the game with friends who can teach us how the game goes, I'll feel more comfortable.

Asheville Mall

We took our first foray into the mall in months. Saw how Covid was effecting it. Due to lines and not wanting to walk far for no good reason we just ended up going to Hot Topic. The had Beetlejuice stuff out. I grinned over some of the books that had the cover of the book from the movie. The also had the 13th Doctor's Sonic Screw driver. If they have any next time we go for that price, I gotta get one for my collection. Yeah purchasing Doctor Who things is gonna be a theme I see.

JoAnn's

We stopped by Joann's to look mainly at the Halloween items. This year the stores haven't really impressed with Halloween items. See every year I'm prepared to make two lists for Halloween items stuff to buy to decorate for Halloween and the stuff to decorate my space for year round. Yeah I'm a color loving geek, but I got some Addams Family crap going on too. I saw a couple things I liked like a gold skeleton with wings, but I don't know it's cause it was done picked over or Covid it seemed lacking this year. There really hasn't been a lot this year in what I consider year round decor, or other wise, to catch my interest at stores.

Comic Envy

We stopped at Comic Envy as we started to make our way back. I love this store too. I ended up purchasing a Captain Marvel comic. As I was waiting to pay the guy paying in front of me was getting his haul and ya'll he was a serious collector. This was my first time seeing one in the wild that I know of. He was like wanting the receipt to keep for his records he was that hardcore.

Goodwills

We hit up a couple Goodwills while we were out. I found some books to give to family members as gifts, and some more CDs for me, yes I still get CDs we still exist. I found from the special edition box that come out for The Phantom Menace some time ago one of the movie strip cells they had for it. If I ever have a place of my own definitely add some geek chic to the place.

Ammon's

For Supper we stopped off in Waynesville to eat supper at Ammon's. I've eaten there often over the years. They just opened their dining room as well. Across the street on a pawn shop's sign it said to vote for Thanos in 2020. This frightens me, when Thanos is considered a better choice for president.

Due to the rain it was a misty drive home. The leaves were changing and falling. I'm just sad there will be no Pumpkinfest, but hopefully at some point we'll be able to return to our events without fear. I'll just have to save my dandelion costume idea till then.

That ends another post. I hope all is well with you my friends. Hope your weekend is good, be safe, and God bless you!

Thrifty Geek's Library- The Dark Side of Fantasy

Hey booklovers,

First up I decided to point out the changes here on the blog. I decided to change my persona to the Thrifty Geek instead of just having it as a section on the blog. I also changed the blog name to Once Upon a Backwoods day cause I live in the backwoods, and years of eating bologna sandwiches cause that's the cheap option we have to get us through the month has made me sick of them, but alas their still necessary. Now that that bit is done let's move on to the blog.

I know it's been a while, but It's time to talk books I've read this year, which hasn't been a lot, I'm only about halfway through my yearly challenge according to Goodreads which I set at 30 books which has been my average since I started on that site. It took me some months to read one book and I DNF'd a couple, current one I've got checked out I might DNF I haven't decided, and one I keep checking out and am interested in reading, but I seem to keep not finishing. But I have read this year, I won't write about all of them cause a. it's been so long I can't remember, and b. many were romances cause I had a hankering for romances. But toy can check out everything I've read on my Goodreads page, which you can get to by clicking the widget on the right side of the page here.

The theme for this post is the dark side of fantasy. It's books that deal with the dark places and beings of the fantasy realm. So let's head into the darkness.

In Eden's Shadow: Twisted Trilogy Book Three by Amanda Churi

This is the final book in the trilogy I started three years ago? Each book I've bought from the author herself at this con I go to AARC. Well I started this one in December of 2019, cause I tend to read these books in December, I do it as a way to offset the Christmas season, we watch a lot of Christmas movies, usually, and it's Christmas everywhere so these books give me a break. Well I started this with the intent to finish it for the 2019 year to round me off at 30 books, but when I realized it wasn't going to happen I decided to take a break and read a new to me Buffy the Vampire Slayer book I had yet to read to get in my average thirty books in for the year on Goodreads.
I did start again after I finished Buffy, but I had a hard time reading this one. I think my anxiety played some part in it cause I took it with me too the laundromat and I'd read a little then put it back down, then pick it up again, read a bit, and put it back down. Another thing that hurt me is how dark and gory it was. I mean this is a dark fantasy and all the books in this trilogy have been dark, but this one was the most dark and gory. I can handle such things to a degree, but I prefer some comic or uplifting relief to the darkness, but this book offers not a lot if any of that.
I thought things were tied up nicely in the end. Though I'm also like they and we went through all of that just to have what happens at the end to happen. I seriously put the death toll up there with a Game of Thrones novel, maybe more. I like that Churi added a section at the end that had inside tidbits and art for all three novels. I'd say it frightens me she started writing this in high school, but me and my friends could be morbid too so I can't say much.
I wanna give thanks to Amanda Churi cause her book actually helped me in my writing. I have a Non Binary character and wasn't 100% sure of pronouns at that time. I'd looked in one of my fantasy novels that I remember had a gender neutral character, but they'd still went with male pronouns. So imagine my excitement to find a gender neutral character in this cook, actually my favorite in this book, so now I know how the pronouns are done. Actually because I've included a gender neutral character in my stories I've had to do research for gender neutral terms for them and I have to say it's been eye opening.

Dating the Undead and Drop Dead Gorgeous (Bite Nites 1 and 2) by Juliet Lyons

As I've said I've read a lot of romance novels lately, but I've also read a lot of books with vampires, vampires are my favorite monsters (not so much the sparkly ones though I did like Alice). But I won't be filling the Library posts with those but I will do these books.
In this world an actress has outed the vampire world, and now everyone is kinda cool with them. There's even now a dating service featuring vampires called V-Date which plays a part in both of the books I've read in this series. But for each book's main character the site changes their lives, and love lives.
Both books deal with the London vampire community. Some characters are mentioned or in both books. I like there's a mix of decent and dark vampires like people in the world. I find it interesting only certain Vampires can turn people, actually that's probably a good thing, only downside is if a human wants to become a vampire to be with their vampire love it'd take and act of congress to do it probably. Not that's really been the case so far with these books.
I like a world where people exist with Vampires, downside you have to deal with the evil ones, but hey be kinda cool to date a good vampire once.

Unrelated to the topic's book news

So I found myself in Walmart's book section as I was wandering around. Despite loving books I'm not in that section of the store a lot, mostly they don't have a big selection, but I was in there and I found something surprising seems they are re-releasing a book series I read the crap out of as a kid The Baby-Sitter's Club. Apparently they are putting two books into one volume at a time. This might make shopping for them hard for me. See I still have a few in my library, cause it was a special series to me, but due to either the fact some got damaged or lost over the years, or the fact some of my favorites I'd only read because I'd check them out from my school library, I don't have them, but want to get them. Now here's where we have trouble. There's a couple books I want to get the versions of the cover I had, but when I was probably in middle school they changed the format of the covers for all the new ones and went back and re-released the old books with the new format. I think there was graphic novel versions released as well and now these, but given I did an Amazon search for one of my ruined books and found the original version easily I don't think it's gonna be a a big problem, though the version I found of this particular volume isn't exactly like the version I had, yes my version had the original cover, but there was a special thing on the cover announcing something special in the book, but as long as I can get the original cover, I can live with that. I don't know if it was something special related to the fact I got it out of the Scholastic catalogue or just those editions released. You know they have Kindle editions of them now, but I want the physical copy for my library.

Well that's this post of the Library. I may be back with some more Library post I know at least two to catch up on what I've read. I hope you have a good weekend. Fangirl and I are gonna venture out into the world, safely with masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. Have a good weekend, read lots, and God bless you!

Where have I been? What have I bought? What do I want? What have I been watching?

Hello friends,

Been a bit so let's take a page from Running in a Skirt's Currently segments and see what's up with me now.

Where have I been?

Well not much anywhere due to this pandemic. Haven't really had much to write about. I've been dealing with a raging mental health hydra for months probably cause I couldn't get out. Intrusive thoughts are so fun. I've only read a few books so far this year so I'll probably post a couple book posts on that at some point. I've just started daring to venture out of the backwoods, with a mask of course. Been working a little on some stories. May have had a mild manic episode that I maybe dealing with low side now so that's fun. But enough of my mental health issues and quarantine let's talk fun things.

What have I bought?

Got the Munchkin® Deluxe. I've wanted a one of their games for a long time, lucky for this thrifty geek I came across this version at a Goodwill. I haven't played it yet cause not something I think my folks will get into, but I'm thinking about making that a new thing doing thrifty geek stuff segments what ya think?

Other fun buys that hasn't been music or gift related is something I came across recently at Walmart that was a TMNT™   Anniversary edition 5 movie set. It has the first three turtle movie from the 90's. The animated movie that came out in 2007, and a new animated movie that come out this year, and that I actually saw like a few weeks ago: Batman VS Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™ . Yeah that's a mash up I never thought I'd see. So yay!

What Do I Want?

Well I saw in the Halloween section at Walmart a Neegan bat. I don't watch The Walking Dead I know shocking and don't beat me with your flails. But I do watch Supernatural I know the Jeffery Dean Morgan has been in booth and they had his bat in an episode. I feel like as a geek I should have one. I'm seriously thinking of going back and purchasing it. Next time I'm there. Also it was weird seeing the Halloween section still in a orderly state.

I really want a blue light saber, I was drooling over some over at UltraSabers®, I mean a custom light saber that's some geek cred, but I'm a thrifty geek so I was just as happy fining this Luke Skywalker one at Party City®

Like most people I want a Nintendo Switch. I'd love The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossings: New Horizons (was watching a lot of Youtubers' game play of this), Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. But that's never gonna happen any time soon thrifty geek here.

What Have I Been Watching?

Supernatural, I saw that TNT's reruns of it was in season one and there's a lot of the early seasons except for the first few eps of season one I watched when it came out the first time. So I've been binging it every day. The rest of the final season premieres this month so can't really say yay, cause the show is ending and given it's darkness I don't see it ending well for our characters, especially Cas, as much as I love that Angel. Sorry had these kind of shows where ending breaks your heart.

Well that's all for this one now that I'm getting out again, maybe I can post some more stuff. Hope your weekend is good, stay safe, and God bless you.

A Little Update and Shopping

Happy Friday friends,

Well last weekend Fangirl and I traveled out to Asheville. It was a day just to chill out after my doctors appointments. We partook of our usual Chinese food. After filling our bellies Fangirl decided to "get lost" being bored with our usual routine. We wound up in the River Arts District. I love seeing the art on the buildings, even the abandoned have an artistic vibe even if it's just graffiti

.
After our wandering and a wrong turn we ended up at the mall. We only visit generally two stores. Hot Topic and Boxlunch. That day we found a surprise at the Hot Topic, a lot of there Funko POPs were on sale for three dollars. Fangirl and I jumped at the chance to get at least one. I've purchased some as gifts for family and friends, but I never got one for me. I was hoping to find a Doctor Who one, no luck, but I did locate a Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That was my show back in high school just ask my friends. He's now guarding the nightstand.

We ended our day with some fun at some Goodwills and Dollar Tree.

So that's a little update not much but a little one. I hope your weekend's good, may you find adventure, and God bless you.

Doctor Who Episode "Spyfall"

Good Evening my friends,

Well the new series of Doctor Who has begun with the two part episode "Spyfall", so I thought I'd share my thoughts.

Spyfall Part One

A great series opener. A very Bondish spy vibe especially when she gives her name at the party. Isn't that like a throwback to the third Doctor. I seem to recall from the Doctors Revisted special back in 2013 that Doctor had gadgets and stuff or am I remembering wrong?

I love how the Doctor keeps her quirky style even when going black tie. She can rock a bow tie as well as Matt Smith. Check out this video for more on all of Team Tardis' black tie attire.

Nice to see the Doctor still has bike riding skills. I love when there's elements of the Doctor's that transpires across the regenerations.

Ok the part one twist really threw me. This makes twice this character has surprised me with a return. I though it be a while before we saw them again.

Spyfall Part Two

Doctor talking to the group via prerecorded message makes me think of "Blink" with hints of Doctor talking to River in that one ep through the screen and anticipating her what she was saying. I also get hints of "The Big Bang" episode.

This is a episode of computer girl power all across time. You know there is Ada Lovelace day? When the Doctor said she was the daughter of Lord Byron didn't realize it was the poet.

I can't believe what the Doctor has to go through now. After all the heartsache and thinking things were squared away with that certain problem, then this happens. I can't say more otherwise I'd spoil it, but when you see it you'll know what I mean.

Hope the rest of the series is just as great as these first eps. I hope you guys have a good week, have fun adventures, and God bless you.

What I'm Doing in 2020

Happy wet night my friends,

Well this week I'm just gonna take a page from Running in a Skirt and just mention what I've been up to lately.

Tube Tales

From Christmas to New Year's actually this morning too I was watching Doctor Who. New Years day I watched the Rose Parade for a bit and some Firefly and the new Doctor Who! I'll talk more new Who Monday after part two of the first episode airs.

Online I've been watching  Travis Willingham's Yeehaw Game Ranch. I needed a break from Critical Role and decided to try this show. It's hilarious I have to admit. Puppets bashing on Travis' sidekick Brian and also games it's a fun time.
I've also watched some of the cooking episode Christy Carson Ramano does on her channel. I love getting to see old favorites on the show.

Book Journeys

I've been working through the last book of Amanda Churi's The Twisted Trilogy. I'm interested in how this series ends. I usually don't like the epic fantasy format, but this is not been a bad one. The past two books I seem to start around Christmas time.

Video Games

I was playing some Neverwinter last month. So excited to see Minsc from Baulder's Gate in this game.  I had to start playing this cause D & D online won't work in my new PC for some reason.
Lately since Fangirl got me the Showtime expansion I've been playing Sims 3. I've mostly been playing an acrobat. I love doing the live gigs. I also love performing for tips, the juggling acts you can do. The particular Sim I did was made with a B*Witched vibe I guess you could say.

Jamming To

My sister Econut has started a new podcast called Trout's Skool of Life where she is gonna post a new positive lesson she learns each day. So go check her out, there's already some good stuff there.

Been listening to songs of my past on Spotify. They lift the spirit. Also been jamming to the mp3 player. Right now checking out Taylor Swift's Lover.

Munching
Still eating on the goodies from Christmas. I dread to see the scale at the Doctor's office. Momma cooks a lot for the holidays.

Holiday Haul
Some of the things I got included a couple seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Nail polish, a cute plush penguin, drawing pads and holo notebooks to fill with my scribblings.

So hope the weekend treats you good, live it too the most, and God bless.
